This is just an overall review on [ The King of Fighters EX2 : Howling Blood ] for the Gameboy Advance system.

There is no game opening introduction when the game start. The screen comes straight to the main menu with Story Mode, Record, VS Team, Vs Single, Practice and Option .

The game comes with a few original designs.
First of, is the player select screen. No longer using the MVS version like its precessor, the player select comes with 7 teams to choose from. Including 5 new characters, MOE (from EX), REIJI, JUN, MIU and boss SINOBU. All character illustrations are drawn by Hiroaki.

Background used in the game is basically from KOF2000 including one new background that looks like the bus background in the MVS [Rage of the Dragon].

The HP / Power bar are redone. Player 1 having the HP above the Power bar while Player 2 have it the other way. Innovative but confusing.

Music and Voices

Nothing significantly special, as we know the limitations of GBA.
Each team has their own BGM including the Boss stage. The BGM is taken mainly from KOF2000 also. Some characters also have their voice cut (predictable anyway).

It is now a 3 on 3 battle with the third character being the striker. Though, the third character will still come up as a third fighting player if the first two is K.O. And of course, when the striker is now your playing character, you won't have any striker.

And as for the boss SINOBU, the head icon shows an old adult while the game itself portray a young chap? How interesting. His skill somewhat consists of Goenitz Wind power and Orochi Lightning, very cheesy. Defeat him and you will get a flare up SINOBU as the final boss.

Overall Rating: 4.5/10
