Introduction:

I didn't know what to expect from Breakers Revenge. I wasn't sure whether it was just an update or a completely new game. It turned out to be a fairly basic update, which is not necessarily a bad thing because the original Breakers was pretty damn good. I will keep this review short, so if you want more in depth information check out my Breakers review.

General Changes From Breakers:

I have played this game for a while and haven't yet been able to see all that many differences between it and the original.

The first thing you will see is that the intro has changed very slightly to incorporate the new character Saizo. Saizo is a Ninja who has a claw that comes from his arm and who throws spikes and bombs. He also has quite a large haircut that he takes great delight in hitting you with! Saizo has a nice new stage on the rooftops that looks quite cool and has some decent music. You will also notice that a lot of the presentation has changed. For one, the fighter select screen looks different and there is also new and improved artwork for the characters. Apart from these differences, I don't think that much has really changed. As far as I can see, all of the moves are exactly the same and nothing has really been tweaked or anything else, not that I could notice. I'm sure more hardcore players would notice something however!

Graphics & Sound:

I would have liked it if they could have maybe added a little bit more sheen to the graphics. Although they are very good they aren't as good as many of the other Neo Geo fighters out there. This is only a small complaint though because they do their job well and have some nice effects when you pull off certain super moves. It would be better if they maybe added more than one new character though! All the stages look basically the same too, and have the same music. Most of this is not a bad thing, because the music, characters, moves and game play were great already anyway.

Overall:

Overall, this is a nice update, so if you like the first, you will love this too. Just don't expect anything ground breaking. If you haven't played Breakers yet, I suggest you just go straight ahead and play Revenge as you won't be missing a great deal!
