I wasn't really expecting much at all from this game. However I was a little surprised because the Neo Geo has so many fighting games, and it is refreshing to find a decent platform game. If you remember Mario 2 on the Nintendo Entertainment System, then you will know more or less what to expect from Blues Journey.

Everything in this game is basically what you would expect from your average platformer. You attack enemies by throwing leaves at them to stun them. Once they are stunned you can pick them up and throw them at the bad guys. By pressing C, you can also make your character smaller so he can fit through tiny gaps.

Along the way you can pick up power ups that give you different weapons such as bombs. You will also encounter houses and shops where you can either get a hint, or you can get the opportunity to buy something with the leaves that you collected on the way. There are also a fair few secrets to be found on most of the levels.

Graphics & Sound:

The graphics are fairly decent, although it is an old game (1990) so you can let it off for not being amazing. It has a cutesy cartoon look to it, so you will either like it or be sick because of how cute it is. The sound is also just what you would expect; the usual jumping sound effects and some cheesy music that I guess suits the game well, but might cause you to vomit violently if you are allergic to this kind of thing!

Blues Journey/Raguy is old and dated, but it is still enjoyable. The Neo Geo doesn't really have many games like this so it can be quite refreshing and fun to play for a limited time. You will probably tire of it fairly quickly but it is still definitely worth checking out.
