Review 1 - by Kazuya_UK

This is another game where I haven't played any of the previous ones in the series but it caught my interest because it looked far better then any of the other Power Instinct games. I was also wondering how Noise Factory's latest title turned out.

Story 7/10

Fighters typically don't have deep plotlines so I didn't really mind the simplicity of this one. The Goketuji family needs to decide if someone will wed princess Sissy. Most of the female characters in the lineup aren't all that thrilled about this marriage and are after the prince.

Graphics 9/10

Very good. The graphics are the same style as ROTD but with great improvement as far vibrance and color. The character artwork is very nice and background animation is pretty fluid overall. One thing I found particularly cool was when you fight a ROTD character in the stage background the video on the screen above the crowd shows some ROTD footage in action with combos! Again comparing this to ROTD I prefer the backgrounds somewhat more because all of them have at least a fair amount of animation in them.

Sound 10/10

Excellent! It's rare to have a fighter with a lot of background music with vocals but practically every background in this game has them and they are great tunes. The alien and internet romance songs in the stage background are bizarre but fun and the song in the computer store is definitely one of my favorites. Character voices are clear and easy to hear (except for Lynn, what the heck did they change her voice for?) and attack hits and all types of moves have a good sound to them. A very pleasing soundtrack and nice sound effects.

Gameplay 9/10

Pretty similar to ROTD which is just fine with me. The super meter is only chargeable through damage, chip damage to the opponent and taunting. However whenever you gain a full stock your character will explode with energy for a brief moment so if you're getting pounded this gives you a quick breather. You can also do a double counter which causes a surprising amount of damage. Every can also do double jumps although I rare every use them. Some final notes are that in some stages you can use a ref as a shield for counter-attacking are literally throw him at your opponent (weird but a lot of fun ^_^), and you can do a Bloodline Battle with your opponent if you taunt each other at the same time. When this happens a tv will appear on the screen and randomly show one of the buttons(A,B,C, or D obviously) and the two players will duel until one them does not hit the right button before the other does. A slightly different system then ROTD but very easy to understand.

Overall 9/10

Again this is the first of the Power Instinct games I've ever played so don't know how it compares to the older games but it seems to be a very solid fighter on it's own. I would definitely reccomend this game not only for diehard fighting fans because it is slightly better then the latest releases on the NeoGeo as of late.
