Review

Well this is a game i definitely remember, I used to play this game in the cinema (why did they always have mvs's in cinema's?) and my friends used to kick my arse, why, because I had mastered the arts of streetfighter 2 and world heroes doesn't play anything like streetfighter2. So I used to hate this game for two reasons, 1 because I sucked at it and 2 because it didn't play like streetfighter 2. Its taken me about 8 years to realize that world heroes is a very good games for two reasons, 1 it doesn't play like streetfighter 2 ,and 2 but it still kicks arse.

This game, as you might know, is a fighting game, its pretty old, I think it was released in 91 or 92. You get to choose from 8(i think) very different fighters, the character drawings are nice (for 1992) and so are the backgrounds. The animation is acceptable but because the game is old, don't expect any last blade type stuff.

The thing i like about world heroes is the way it plays, its wonderful because you cant use a lot of the tactics you learnt with streetfighter 2, they just don't work. This makes the game really refreshing and new. The special moves are also very easy to use.

The sound effects are pretty ordinary, well to be honest I didn't really look out for them, so they must be pretty average, but that doesn't really make much difference to the game.

One interesting thing about World Heroes is the option to choose from playing a normal match or death match. Normal match is, yep you guessed it a normal match, but death match is the best, you play in arena with a variety of obstacles like e.g.: spike on the walls, electric barriers, pads on the floor that make you go fast. All these make the game a lot for interesting and nothing can beat impaling your friend on a huge spike on the wall :).

Anyway, I think World heroes was easily the best of the first bunch of fighters on the Neogeo, it kicks the arse out of art of fighting and fatal fury and is worthy of the space on your computer. Take note that I'm comparing this game to the other games around at the time, not to games like last blade or KOF98, this game is also not as good as streetfighter 2 (which is the best).
