People will like this for all the SNK characters in it, but I don't like it, for the fact that it's too damn easy. It's too cutesy, the plot-line kinda sucks, and I think it's a waste of time. I'm in the minority though on that one.
Because this is a Japanese text only quiz game, I cannot review it properly. If there are any Japanese-speaking people out there that could possibly give me a little info about this game, then please let me know!
Another quiz game, this one has characters from the Fatal Fury games and also a few from the Samurai Shodown series (although I don't quite see how they managed to fit them into the same storyline!). The story, from what I can tell, is that you have to rescue Ryo Sakazaki's (from Art of Fighting) sister Yuri who has been kidnapped once again (see AOF1). To do this, you meet up with different people and you have to answer their question correctly to move onto the next stage. Its kind of like a board game, you randomly move a set number of spaces on each go and then meet up with the character who occupies that space.
From what I can work out, certain spaces have shops where you can buy special items. There is also a two-player mode, where you have to fight a friend. You both select your character and then compete to answer the questions first. If you answer a question correctly, you get to see an animation of your character hitting your opponent, and then their energy bar decreases. The fights are done on a best out of three rounds basis, like a traditional KOF fighting game.
I found the graphics on this game to be quite nice and very well presented, as this game has a fairly big megabit count for a quiz game. There's some nice artwork on all of the characters and some animated backdrops. On the sub boss stages where you fight an opponent by answering questions and on the two-player game, you can see your opponent taking facial damage when you hit them, which is a nice touch.
The sound on this game is not too bad either. There is a fair amount of speech and some nice sound effects for when you hit your opponents with different attacks and the music is decent too. It is by no means fantastic, but it suits the game well and doesn't annoy me as much as the music on some of the other quiz games did.
Like all the other quiz games, you should only try this if you understand Japanese. If you are using emulation to play this game, then you can use save states to get through it, although that does kind of ruin the game for you. At least it means non Japanese-speaking people get to see all the animations, but that isn't really the point. If you can understand it and you like quiz games, you will love this game, especially if you are also a fan of the Fatal Fury/Samurai Shodown games. I only wish that someone would convert Quiz King of Fighters and Maruko's Deluxe Quiz into English.
