Discussion in the Game of the Week threads has been low lately, so it's time for a popular game! And it doesn't get much more popular than this.

As another step towards increasing the amount of discussion I've eliminated the poll this week. Seems more often than not people are looking for the poll choice that best suits their opinion instead of actually telling us their opinion! If you hate me for doing this (or if you understand but still want the poll back) please let me know with a comment to this news post and not in the actual discussion thread. That way we can keep the discussion thread on topic. Thanks!

SNK Gals Fighters - Game of the Week

In 1997 Capcom made a cute, super deformed parody fighter featuring many of their popular characters. In 2000, SNK followed suit and SNK Gals Fighters was born. It featured the only playable appearance of Kyo's girlfriend Yuki, and a system where you can equip items to change your abilities... a full 11 years before Street Fighter X Tekken's Gem System was even revealed.

With Gunlord constantly on our minds it's a good time to take a look back to where NG:Dev Team got started.

When we covered Metal Slug 2 we lumped it's update Metal Slug X together with it, so we're doing it again this week with Last Hope and Pink Bullets. That means there are two separate scoreboards for this week's High Score Challenge!

The King of Fighters XIII releases today!

It's finally here! The King of Fighters XIII releases today in North America. For those in Europe it will be available this Friday, November 25th. And for those in Japan it releases on December 1st. Preliminary reports have been exceedingly positive so far, so make sure to run out and pick it up if you didn't already pre-order.

It's game of the week time again! And we've got a big one this week.

Somehow I don't think this will be the only news post this week about an SNK fighter. All we can ask is that you try to fit a few SSIV sessions in between all of the KOFXIII that you'll be playing in a few days. Overtop - Game of the Week

Along with beat'em ups, racing is another staple arcade genre that is criminally under represented on the Neo Geo. We've got to cherish what we've got, and what we've got here is pretty damned good.
