Mechanized Attack - Game of the Week

What are two guys, one of them looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger, armed with UZIs doing on a tropical island occupied by dangerous cyborgs? I think you already know the obvious answer, and no, they aren't playing hopscotch together... But if you wonder how the above mentioned scenario could look like in rail shooter from the 80's, just take a look at this SNK classic here.

Is anyone familiar with SNK's Mechanized Attack or have you even played it? Please share your insights with other members and while you're at it, why not asking for a High Score Challenge?

Samurai Shodown 64 / Warriors Rage - Game of the Week

SNK's Hyper Neo Geo was not exactly famous for being very successful nor for having a large library of rememberable titles. But the 64-Bit system indeed offered a handful of 3D versions of some of SNK's most popular franchises, for example Samurai Shodown. In fact SNK released two 3D installments of the Samurai-themed series, and another obscure one only followed on the PSX...

So, what do you guys and gals think about the Samurai Shodowns on the Hyper Neo Geo? In this case I took together Samurai Shodown 64 and its sequel Warriros Rage into one GOTW thread to make it easier. I also covered the PSX-exclusive Warriors Rage (not the same as the Hyper Neo Geo one) to clear things up.

Metal Slug Advance - Game of the Week

Let's take a glance at SNK Playmore's efforts of bringing out well-known franchises on Nintendo's Game Boy Advance. One of the more successful attempts was Metal Slug Advance, a completely new installment of the series and alongside with Metal Slug: 2nd Mission the only episode without the main protagonist Marco Rossi.

You people already know how it works, share your knowledge and gameplay experiences about this GOTW and discuss it properly. A HSC would be possible as well, but only as a Speed Run though (damn these SNKP programmers who didn't include a proper scoring system).

Gang Wars - Game of the Week

Many movies like The Warriors or Death Wish 3 may have given the wide-spread impression that the U.S. in the 80's were constantly plagued by mohawk haircut punks and gang wars. Regardless of whether that was true or not, many Japanese video game developers took their inspirations from such flicks, even our usual suspect ADK back then in 1989...

Never heard of Gang Wars by SNK/ADK? If you already know Ninja Combat for the Neo Geo, you'll immediately feel at home with Gang Wars. With its innovative level system and lots of weapons it was way advanced than its Ninja pseudo-sequel which came out two years later.

Soccer Brawl - Game of the Week

Another week, another .... soccer game? Yeah, but don't let your first thoughts mislead you. As the title says it all, in Soccer Brawl there has to be more to it than just the well-known laws of the game. In contrary, ruthless and malicious gameplay is required to beat the CPU or human enemy in this quite early SNK title...

After the legendary GOTW that Garou was, we need to settle down to take a look on less popular titles again. Although Soccer Brawl may not be one of the obvious choice of a Neo Geo devotee, it's an (undeservedly?) overlooked sports game from the earlier Neo era. As usual, put in your two cents or give the game a try if possible.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves - Game of the Week

We members and readers can happily look back on our long lasting tradition that the GOTW is, and today marks the day of presenting the 150th Game of the Week. No question, a game representative for SNK's Neo Geo is needed. And almost no other Neo Geo game was similarily attention attracting and influential than Fatal Fury's ninth installment...

Now seriously, this week's GOTW thread and game deserves a special dedication from us ordinary mortals. Even if you think that MOTW is a tad overrated, you can't deny it marks a milestone in SNK's developing history. By the way, a High Score Challenge is now up and running, waiting for daring challengers...

Kizuna Encounter - Game of the Week

Dough, bucks, cabbage, juice, cash or simply money. Call it like you want, the first thing that comes in mind when hearing about Kizuna Encounter is the ridiculously high value of the game's AES PAL/EURO version. But value and money aside, how well aged the actual game through all these years? Is it still any good and worth its reputation?

Clearify that and other questions in the according discussion thread and tell us what you think about Kizuna Encounter. While we're at it, we could also conduct a High Score Challenge if there's any interest among fellow readers and members. Please leave a post or send Priest a PM if that's the case!
