Well, as I am sure you have all noticed, a few things have been changing around here. After getting NGFL back online in the wake of the recent site hack, we're now running the latest version of the CMS we use. This brings a few improvements, but it does also mean that we lost a few of our old features. In the end we decided to go without the old FusionBoard add-on we used, as although it had some nice features, it slowed the site down so much that it made it un-usable recently. On the plus side this meant that we said goodbye to spelling cow, which I know a few people were more than happy about... don't worry though, we had a BBQ soon after in her honour and it was delicious! ;)



Although we may have lost a few things, I've been hard at work on adding things to the site that hopefully people will enjoy, and also listening to peoples suggestions. Of course in terms of the coding work for some of the new add-ons we're using I can't take the credit of course, but a big thanks goes out to the people that worked on them!

Reviews - I've written my first review in ages (a couple of years in fact!), and hopefully more will be on the way soon!

New Chatroom - much more stable and faster. We will be trying hard to resurrect the weekly chat meeting on Sunday evenings soon, so keep an eye out for more news on this!

Avatar size increased on the forums, custom ranks now allowed for users who have reached NGFL rank and for admins (please comment below if you are interested in changing your rank icon).

Xbox Live Leaderboard - edit your profile and add in your gamertag, to see where you rank amongst other NGFL users on the Leaderboard!

New Themes - We already have a number of different themes for our users to choose from (within edit profile), but I'm hoping we'll have a new default theme soon! We will of course keep the current theme so our users can switch back if they want to keep the current one though!

Some other cool stuff... I have a couple of other things I'm working on thanks to some really great infusions that have been made for PHP Fusion. I'll post more about these soon, but I'll have something to show in the very near future.

Game of the Week - this is currently suspended, but it will be back in a slightly different guise soon. I'm going to take over on this again, and I have to say a big thanks to the people that have updated it in my absence for a very long time now!!!

I'm also trying to make more out of the social media pages that we have. Love it or hate it, social media is a big deal these days, and for all the bad things you can say about it, it has it's good points. The Facebook page in particular is pretty popular and we do have members over there that don't post regularly (if at all) on the main site, and it's been great in terms of meeting new Neo Geo fans from around the world, some of whom had not heard of the site until seeing our FB page. I have also resurrected the Twitter feed for those interested, and am going to use it to post short updates and also Neo Geo related news when possible. There's only around 20 followers so far, so I feel like I'm talking to myself a little with the things I have posted in the last week or so... come follow us and also invite any friends that you think would be interested!!! @NeoGeoForLife

I'm doing a few things with our Youtube Page too, which has existed for some time and has a fair few videos, but has not been updated in a while. Work on the YouTube page actually ties in with other stuff I'm doing on site (like I say more info soon), so I am interested if anyone wants to contribute to this in any way... for instance, if you have made gameplay videos or anything along those lines related to the Neo Geo and SNK, and you'd like to post them here, let me know!
