  Legend of Chun Li Trailer

I figured this will be of interest to most fighting games fans so I'm going to post it on the front page - I know I haven't posted many updates on KOF XII developments recently, but that was down to me being away a lot during the festive season... just because this is a Capcom update, dont go thinking I'm switching sides! ;)

Anyways, here is the first trailer for the new Street Fighter movie: The Legend of Chun Li. It's from the Japanese website so the voiceover is not in English, but even if you don't speak the language you'll get the gist of what's happening:

I'm going to just repeat what I have already said on the forums, by saying that while this film looks better than the original SF2 movie, you'd pretty much have to bend the laws of space and time to make a film worse than that. It will basically have nothing to do with the game storyline wise, but it could still be entertaining.

Thoughts? Head to the thread on the forums and let us know what you think. I wonder how long before we see the first KOF movie trailer... I know it only started shooting in November so it will be some time, but will KOF make a better transition than it's rival? I'm still going to look at it in one way for now: both films will be TERRIBLE! At least that way I can't be disappointed, but I might be mildy suprised at least. Time will tell! ;)

I don't think this film looks bad at all.

Also, why do you assume it won't have anything to do with the game storyline wise? There's a lot more going on in the Street Fighter universe than just Ryu stressing out over the Dark Hadou. Before the games even happened Bison was responsible for the death of Chun-Li's father. It appears this movie is about that (with Balrog carrying out the orders). Focusing on one storyline thread and not trying to tie in everyone else in the game seems like the only way to make a good movie about a fighting game with such a convoluted story.

Yea of course, and I'm all for them looking at other characters, in fact that's better. But other than the casting of Michael Clark Duncan, I'm really not feeling it at all, and I think history has told us that 90% of video game to film adaptations have been terrible. I'd rather assume that it's going to be awful and then at least be a bit surprised when I watch it, rather than get excited about it and end up hating it. Smile

As for the storyline being accurate, I don't even mind if they use a bit of artistic license on it, but usually with these things, unless they have someone on board who actually knows the games properly, they will be so far away from the original source material it's almost unrecognisable. Let's hope SF isn't... if it turns out well I'll hold my hands up and say so! Smile

Wait... What?

It's nice to see R. Mika making a comeback. Enjoyed using her in Zero/Alpha 3. I think if Reelmojo was still here he would probably be keen to talk about SFV.

I still really like SF4 (Super or Ultra). At the moment I'm not happy with what they've done to Juri in SF5

I'm surprised there doesn't seem to be much interest in SFV here at NGFL. I'm not interested in it either but remember there being a lot of discussion about SFIV in the past.

Yeah, sorry, I didn't make it, just as I said before, times are a changing, but that doesn't mean I can make a comeback, lol.
