I've been surfing a few articles about it from that time (which are still available on the Net), and it seems nobody at MS, or MS Japan in particular picked up on the Koran verses used as a background chant being potentially offensive to devout Muslims. Seems it took a protest from the Saudi government and its oil billions to get their attention.
Well, Kakuto-Chojin isn't a great fighting game, but IMO it deserved a better fate than this. A sequel might even have been good, if the development team that MS Japan had cobbled together from ex-Dream Factory and Tekken staff would've had a chance. So sez moi.
As for the Koranic chants, I read from one source (the Guardian newspaper's story linked to at the wikipedia article) that they were removed, and the game re-released, although I don't think that occured in North America.
i still have the unrecalled one with call to prayer in background music !
Kakuto-Chojin was an interesting game but I thought it was horrid. It was interesting but the only reason I bought it was because it was bing pulled from the shelves.
I'll get them installed in the Cab at some point over the next few days and get the PS3 and 360 up and running. Awesome.
This does however create a slight problem with my current media set-up: the PS3 is what I use to stream all my (obviously legally obtained ) video files to the TV. Which includes all the kid's TV shows, and there's no way I'm missing out on Duck Tales and Chip N' Dale. I was hoping some crafty bugger would have hacked the new Apple TV 3 by now, but that's not happened, and there's no way I'm moving and re-encoding 4.5TB (yes, Terabytes) of video files into iTunes. And everyone that's got a hackable ATV2 is hawking it on eBay for ungodly amounts of cash. Bugger.
I just bought Pinball Arcade on 360 (think you can get it on PS3 too and some other formats). I am not an expert on pinball so i cant comment how it compares to real tables but all the tables look and sound really good. Physics seem good too. It emulates real-life classic tables so you know you are getting good layouts. I think this is going to be a good score-attack game.
"There's a guy on Geometry Wars. I can't remember his Gamertag, but his score is far above anyone else in the world, and it makes me think this person doesn't have a life, doesn't work, and is completely and sickly addicted to this one game."
I like the Street Fighter Pinball game on their. It's the only reason I bought the thing. It's not as good as the Street Fighter Pinball at the arcade but it's good.
Just got abit of a retro haul, bought a heap of Sega Master System and Mega Drive carts, a SNES Mario Kart, a couple Gameboy pockets, a Zapper with Duck Hunt and Mario, and 2x Atari 1040 ST computers with a big heap of stuff including 3 monitors...

Good stuff RiKo
Which pinball tables are included. I have this on my iphone, ofcorse this is no substitute for the real thing. But it satisfies the urge to play pinball games when you´re on the move

I have the 4S yes. They dont sell the normal 4 here anymore. The guy at the shop showed me his 4 side by side with a 4S and the difference in the screen clarity was rather significant. Youd need to see them side by side to know for sure. You can talk to the 4S and it will do all sorts of crazy sh** too... Not sure if im sold on that!!
My game buying ways have slowed down a bit due to the fact that I'll be moving very soon, but that couldn't stop me today! I was in a used record store and happened upon a complete in box, black label, mint condition copy of Parasite Eve for $10! It's a 32-bit Squaresoft RPG that I missed out on so it definitely needed to be in my collection, plus it goes for roughly $30 on Ebay so it was a great price.
Also, earlier this week I picked up Shadows of the Damned and Deadly Premonition... so once I finish moving I'll have plenty of great games to play.

I love Parasite Eve! I didn't know anything about it and I accidentally stumbled across the second game for real cheap back in 2000 or 2001 so i picked it up. But, yes very nice find.
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30
Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
Medal of Honor (2010)
I'm really loving the BIA series. The tactical gameplay in which you lead your squad and order them to suppress and flank the enemy is very original for an fps and works well. The story is well done and you actually care about what happens to the men under your command.
Hmmm Persona 4 looks awesome... I must admit I only saw some screens and videos of it today... I think I'm gonna have to buy that come the next pay day.
Just ordered SF II: Champion Edition for the PC Engine! I'll play this stunning port on the big screen with my Supergrafx console and the small screen of my PC Engine GT handheld. We'll see how this monster HuCard plays using just two standard buttons. More than likely I'll wind up buying NEC's six-button pad for my Supergrafx just for this game alone (don't know if any other PC Engine HuCard titles make use of it, honestly). As for playing this on the GT, I'll just have to tinker with the button assignments to determine the most tolerable 2-button setup so I can enjoy this awesome 8-bit translation on NEC's handheld.
Blurry pic from the eBay seller:
Visually, this port is a jaw-dropping achievement and a technical marvel developed for (at its core) 8-bit hardware. The graphics are superior to Sega's port and rival those of the SNES's. Sonically, the PCE version's music is marginally inferior the SNES and Genesis ports, but the voices and sound effects beat out Sega's and nearly match Nintendo's! F*cking class!
Can't wait to finally play this version of SF II. Anyone else here have it? If so, I'd love to hear some of your opinions!
My Aquapazza: Aquaplus Dream Match Ltd Edition arrived from Play-Asia the other day. It came with a bonus clear file holder, which is totally pointless, although a nice surprise.
I'm still waiting for Amazon to send my P4 Arena! Apparently it's going to be shipped later on today, so I'll just have to wait and see....
And that's it for new games for the year, other than importing a Japanese copy of Ginga Force on the 360 which has been confirmed as region-free. I'll see what happens with Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma closer to its debut in December. If the UK release isn't going to be too far behind the Japanese one then I'll wait.
