I have bought myself a copy of "ZELDA - Outlands" for the NES. This is a "remake" of the first "LEGEND OF ZELDA" game and not an official Nintendo product. I havent received the game yet but I look forward to another adventure with Link in 8 bits. I have been told that I payed a bit too much for this game, but in this case Im still happy with my buySmile

That copy of Outlands looks awesome with all of the custom art! I've only played it on an emulator, but that's actually entirely legal in this case considering a rom patch was the only way it was ever officially released. It's really good, but I hope you're up for a challenge! I mean that. It's hard as hell.

The creator of Outlands is also working on a hack of Zelda 3 called Quest for Calatia that I've been following for years. It's no where near done yet, and probably won't be for a few more years, but I'm still looking forward to it.

@PRIEST...
never seen that copy of Outlands before. It looks SUPER nice btw! I can see why you'd want to own that, even if it were only to adore it in a glass cabinet Grin

So, is it a custom one-off design then, or are there a few limited copies kicking around? Hmm

Reelmojo: Yea, that third part could be fun. I know theres also a remake of The adventure of Link.

Ninja: I intend to play this game as soon as it arrives. I have looked forward to a new Zelda 8bit game.

Today I got Metroid Zero Mission for GBA. I don't own a GBA but I needed something to play on my Gameboy Player that has otherwise just been sitting under my Gamecube making it taller. I also bought Kid Chameleon for my Genesis. I've only ever played the beginning of the game but I liked what I saw.

Also, not exactly a purchase but my friend Jeremy came over today and gave me my first ever SNES! He also gave me a copy of Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest which FF fans will tell you is definitely not great by any means, but it's my only game so far and it was free so I'm not complaining! I actually don't have a controller yet so I'll be needing one of those soon. Probably as soon as I buy a game for it that I'm more interested in playing.

METROID ZERO MISSION...
and being given your first ever SNES? It's been a pretty good week then?!

I've always fancied Zero Mission myself, however, it's considered 'rare' here in the UK, thus, the value is a bit ridiculous now (around 30-40 second hand... or $60-70 to you).

I hope it's good though! I guess it's boxed etc? Hmm

AND...
hows that SNES looking? I envisage it a slightly yellowed colour for some reason? A particularly EPIC win for you if it's not!! Grin

Ive bought this DSIXL / 3DS lot from a guy at another forum for about just under 300. Both consoles are like new and have just been tested by the previous owner.

I never thought that I would buy one of these DS machines much less two of them. I might sell the XL one...Beard

Ninja, there's only a tiny bit of yellowing around the controller ports actually. And it spent a lot of years in a household where two people smoked so that's kind of amazing.

...no, that's not my copy of Super Castlevania IV.

Also, the GBA is region free so you could always buy a US copy of Zero Mission. I got mine for $10.

I really want to get SFIII Online Edition. I actually thought it was only for the PS3 until i looked it up just now.

My SFIV tournament edition Arcade stick arrived today. It's a bit of a beast but looks really good and more importantly controls beautifully in game. The joystick has less travel than my old Hori and the buttons also have less-travel which is just how i like it so very pleased so far.

I am also happy that when i break it (it will happen at some point) i can just slot new parts straight in.

My above posts about my friend giving me a free SNES just got topped. I helped this same friend move last week and the next day he went to a garage sale. There he found another game console that he already owns in great condition with a few games for only $10 so he decided to just buy it, keep the games he didn't have and give me the rest for helping him out with the move.

So I am now the proud owner of a Nintendo 64! It came with the expansion pack, one controller, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Command and Conquer. The analog stick on the controller is a bit loose, but everything controls perfectly. I actually was worried about the controller not working well so we played some Smash Bros. at his house to test it out and I never had a single problem.

So now I have yet another classic system to shop for! This year I've acquired an AES, SNES, and N64 so... pretty good year!

I happened to have a voucher for 12 off any 60 purchase at Tesco, so the Xmas shopping has sort of begun.

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventures on PlayStation for my son

img27.imageshack.us/img27/5973/skylandersspyrosadventu.jpg

Plus a couple of extra packs of characters and items to use in the game

img62.imageshack.us/img62/7872/screenshot20111019at220.pngimg3.imageshack.us/img3/7872/screenshot20111019at220.png

It seems that this is going to be rather popular. There were loads in Tesco and Game when I did the food shopping yesterday. I went back today and I got the last PS3 Starter Pack that was on the shelf. The Xbox version was completely sold out and there was only a couple left for the Wii. They only had a few packs of the figures left too, so I'm glad I got what I could today.

You can't imagine how much I want to rip these out of the packets and start playing with them.....

I just ordered Dark Souls on 360. I really want this game! I was always jealous i couldn't get Demon Souls which was a PS3 exclusive. When i was young i used to play those Fighting Fantasy game books and this game just makes me think they have made those books into a videogame. I really like the gameplay video i watched today . The only negative thing i have seen is that the scenery all looks a little similiar. i would have liked a little more variety but looks really good apart from that.

Got myself Soul Calibur IV.
As a kid, I used to play CaliburII a lot
(though I ignored anyone who wasn't Link),
so I've been aspiring to play the games properly now.
I've been having some fun with Blade/Edge and will play some CaliburII
before popping in IV (Sadly, I have no way of playing the first Calibur
and I doubt I'll be missing much by skipping CaliburIII).

I couldn't resist myself, so I bought what is now officially the cutest action figure I own for my game room. It's Arsha and Pepelogu from Monster World IV!

www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20050202/yujin02.jpg

I plan on picking up a repro cart of Monster World IV (translated to English) soon.

I also got The War of the Worlds on XBLA today. It's very inspired by games like Flashback and Out of This World, but the control is less restrictive and there's more emphasis on actual platforming skills. I'd say it falls somewhere between Flashback and Limbo, but I haven't really played far enough to see how accurate that comparison is. All I know is that it's very fun, very artistic, and features Patrick Stewart. Modern gamers will probably find it too difficult since the game does not hold your hand whatsoever, but those who enjoyed Limbo will probably be happy with it. Oh, and the enemies are horrifying.

You know you are taking games a bit too seriously when your controller is bigger than an original Xbox....

i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr45/RimShot69/SNV87741b.jpg

(I'm not actually using it with this Xbox but i had the Xbox 1 out today because i was sorting through some old games)

I have also got some micro-switches for my old broken arcade stick so i will have a back up for when this one needs fixing Smile

Damn, I didn't realize those things were that big! I always assumed they were roughly the size of a NeoGeo stick. Nice buy. Were you playing SFIV with a pad before? If so after some practice I'm sure your C. Viper skills will greatly improve with a stick.

RiKo
Hi Mojo Smile yes its huge! I had a Hori EX2 stick before, but one of the microswitches wasn't registering as well as it used to. Sometimes actually i find a pad can be faster for certain moves and more precise but overall i prefer the stick, especially since the 6 button control scheme is so awkward on the pad

I really like this stick, it feels great. It did take me about 20 fights until i got properly used to it, but i find i can do some moves a little faster now, since it has 'travel' on the stick (less movement before it registers)

I think i have been playing SSFIV for about 8 weeks now almost every day, so it was definitely worth the investment. I just got the Arcade Edition and the standard of play on there is higher than SSFIV so i'm finding it tough to win many matches but really enjoying the challenge. My level of play varies from terrible to quite good. I think some people are surprised when they face me again and i beat them, just because of how bad i was the first time round lol
