Guitar Hero 3- First impressions
Atomduck
Well, my bro just got it at the mid-night launch for Wii. Pretty much the same awesomeness as the other 2. We just kicked off playing Barracuda, which is a classic. How are you guys liking it? Cool

I am waiting for the 360 version to be released over here so I can buy it with the wireless guitar, but I have tried the PS2 version. I really do like it, and I am loving some of the track choices, but I have to say after playing the 360 version, the PS2 graphics look very stiff in comparison. It still kicks ass though, and I love the addition of boss battles.

Co-op career sounds fantastic - it's a bit weird though because from what I can tell you have to do co-op career to unlock certain songs, like Beastie Boys Sabotage. I haven't got a 2nd controller lying around so I can't do it (unless I get someone to play on a pad LOL ). Once you have them unlocked though I would assume that you can then play them in single player?

The song that you play in the end credits is insane - I won't spoil what it is for those that haven't got there yet! Oh and One by Metallica is actually friggin awesome to play.

I'm still kinda on the fence about which version I want... I'm leaning towards the Wii version right now, but can anyone explain the nuances in differences and what version they prefer?

The Wii version has weaker graphics than the 360/PS3 versions. But, it has a gimmicky feature of when you screw up on a note, the Wiimote's speaker plays the sound. I was hoping that you could move the guitar around and the guitarist would mimic your motions, but it doesn't :( Regardless on what version you get, it's all great fun.

They kinda goofed up, Isn't Weezer supposted to be American? I looked it on Wiki and they're from San Fran. I guess it sounds British.

You guys still playing this? I completed the PS2 version and a couple of days ago I finally got the 360 version so now I have 2 guitars and can rock out with a friend Grin. Completed it very quickly and have been trying to improve my score on Through the Fire and Flames by Dragonforce. So far I hit 78% and my best score is 142,134 on medium. Not too great at it right now but considering my friend was complaining that it took him a week or two to even beat it at all I was surprised how easily I did it Smile

My girlfriend completed the game on easy [ Wii ] and medium in about a week, now shes into hard and has completed almost every song at 100%.

She plays online constantly and due to most people wanting to play Fire and Flames she now gets 100% on that easilly, I totally suck even on easy no matter what song it is Grin

If anyone wants to take her on her online name is "Black Cherry"

Is that almost 100% on hard?? Shock Even on normal that;s extremely impressive. I'd give her a game but I think I would get owned and normal is still most definitely my level, although I have started to get better on hard Smile

Just improved again a little... 81% and 154,833. Don't think I will ever 100% it, lol Smile

Yup thats on hard, generally speaking people on the net seem much easier to beat though. Looks like most of the time against a good opponent online it comes down to who misses 1 or 2 notes determines the winner.

I can get here code if anyone wants to add her to their friend list Grin

Man, you guys are on hard? My younger brother who just turned 15 got Guitar Hero 3 from us and he started playing the songs on expert. He's on "Before I Forget" by Slipknot. Then again, he plays the game constantly and he's beaten the first and second ones on all difficulties too.
Long long ago, there were a man..

Kazuya_UK
Hehe I just don't have enough time (and perhaps not enough hand/eye co-ordination) to be able to play expert. Hard is enough for me, perhaps I should ditch playing on normal altogether so I can improve at it though? It's just that I find I have more fun simply playing normal, and that's what I play it for really Smile

I'd add your gf candycab but it sounds like she'd destroy me on guitar hero! Smile

I haven't played GH3 in so long, but last time I did so, I kicked Lou's ass on Hard mode. THAT was one of the fucking toughest things I've ever done in gaming history. I shudder to think of Expert's horrendousness... provided I could ever beat "Before I Forget" on Expert. Shock

I don't own the game per se, but one of my buds up here at college has allowed me to start my own career mode and eventually beat it. I must say, GH3 totally rules. I still prefer 2's setlist, but 3 is also great... and it's given me a newfound appreciation for Stevie Ray Vaughan! Grin

I'm sorta a wimp. The things just too hard on the harder difficulties. I'm just not able to move my hand down to that damn orange fret. So I manage to have fun usually on medium

Kazuya_UK
Same, but I am getting better. I'm at the point now where not even Through the Fire and Flames is much of a challenge, and although I miss a few notes still I get through it no problem, so I figure the only way to improve is to play on hard and just bear with it... trust me, frustrating as it may be you will get better.

I still play it for fun more than anything though, and I don't really want to spend every waking hour getting good at it! Not like some people i have seen... to each their own I guess, but I am planning on taking the guitar up so I think my time would be better suited to that... unless I want to thrill people with my "acoustic GH skills" (need to have seen South Park if you don't get that Wink).
