Neo Geo CD/ CDZ overheating
ying
I am trying to figure out what the accepted facts are on overheating.

Most importantly for me:
Is the problem with overheating worse for the CDZ than the CD?

(I understand that people make modifications on the CDZ to help the problem.)

I know you've already bought a top loader ying so maybe there's not much point in replying to this thread but just wanted to say I've owned a CDZ for quite a long time, used it a lot and never had any problems with it.

I suspect maybe some people who have problems with overheating are repeatedly playing for excessively long periods and not having adequate ventilation for example by placing the console on a carpet.

If someone asked me whether they should buy a top loader or a CDZ I would recommend going for a CDZ because of faster loading times. A CDZ is more expensive though.

Don't know if you've seen this page or not but you can compare some loading times here:

Thanks for your thoughts Merlin!
I am still thinking that maybe I want an AES also, it is so cool with the big, fat carts and everything Smile
Problem is, prices seem to be pretty high, get the feeling it was lower a few years ago:(
Anything is decided by destiny!

NEO-GEO man
Ive not had a CDZ here, but after 20-30 minutes running, the console will pretty much be as hot as its going to get. Ive never had any game console over heat while ive been using it, and that includes summer in Australia where it gets well over 45°c at times.
