Blazing Star (AES) on Ebay
RiKo
Blazing Star AES on Ebay. 5 days left, already $3,850.00 (£2,688.92). Let's guess what the finishing price will be? I have no idea what it sells for now but I will say $4440 (£3101)

I remember 5-6 years back when it sold for £480 thinking that was far too much to spend on a game. Wish I had now, because hard to see how I can buy one at that price! (I'd need to sell some games I already have)

Well, nowadays it becomes very special to see such games on sale.
In the past you could find multiple copies and choose between different conditions. So when such auction surfaces, people go crazy.

I have a copy of Blazing Star (AES) and I'm 99,9% sure it's legit. Regarding some price guides, it's a little bit concerning to see such prices. For most people, buying the more scarce AES games is a bridge to far. At this moment, there are still 5 days left and already such bid.

Thanks for sharing it Riko. I'm also very curious how this will end.
Imagine what Metal Slug, Super Sidekicks 4 or Kizuna Encounter will do right now.......

I'm happy with my MVS cart to be honest. At least I know it's genuine....

Although I am intrigued to see what bonkers amount of cash this does go for.

Your are right SD. It's easy to see if a MVS game is original or not. Opening up a AES cart is always risky, damaging the cart and/or sticker.

Hopefully the new owner is smart enough to check the whole bunch.
I would never buy a more expensive AES game over the internet anymore. It's sad it has come to this, but the whole bootleg & scam affairs has made AES collecting shit. One of the reasons I stepped over to MVS.

To be honest, I'd change that to any expensive game, not just AES. Megadrive games are even easier to bootleg as it's generally only one chip on the board (correct me if I'm wrong). So even if I was prepared to spend the silly amounts that GleyLancer or Twinkle Tale go for, I'd be very dubious...

It's all become a bit of a minefield for collectors of AES, MD, SNES, generally any classic cartridge based system. Obviously there are steps you can take to protect yourself, but it has turned a bit shit.

Everdrives FTW. At least you're being honest with yourself and you know that you're playing teh ROMz.

Jeez, you mean even SNES en MD has bootlegs?
Didn't know that, pathetic. But on the other hand logical, because retro has become big business. Game fairs are a good example of that.

That auction has settled for the time being. I wouldn't be surprised if a few peope do some last minute bidding. I never get why people bid beforehand - just pushes the price up and lets people know your interest in the item. I do one small bid at the start of the auction and then a big one in the last 5 seconds and hope for the best.

That's a great game to have in your collection Clap and you were wise Sensi. I wish I had got one one a few years back! Smile

That's true athough I'd argue all you will need in the future is the original boards inside the cart. Because you can replace the shells, stickers, inserts, manual with (hopefully) perfect reproductions. The only thing people will care about is the boards.

The auction ended...........$6.900,-. That's almost €6.300,-
Lucky auction for the seller or common?
Following the bids, 'only' two were determined to go that far.

WTF? thats £4,892.23 UK money. I think maybe because this seems genuine more people bid for it that normally would. I'm guessing the buyer is going to open the cart to check though? You have to for that much money.

Kind of seems like my dreams of selling some games to pay for a copy of Blazing Star have ended here too :(

Those are shell bidding......
Like other already mentioned, i like my mvs copy.
My happy meal box is empty.........

Could be, but isn't logical in this situation. The bidders had some good reputations. Besides, the item wouldn't be sold to a stranger. Looking at some other items, prices of AES games are gone out of reach for most people.
Conversions are already sold for AES prices (500-700 EUR range).
