Arcade games collection

Thank you guys.
Rico my collection is complete or almost complete. 2 games I like are almost impossible to find. Cow boys of Moo messa and Geostorm. Strider has become rare and expensive. I may buy 3 Wonders if I find a decent original copy.

For now I am building my Mega Drive / Mega CD and Super Famicom collection.
I have also entered to the World of Virtua Reality through PS4 Pro.

It must be a good feeling to be nearing completition. I'd be interested in seeing your megadrive collection (time for a Megadrive Collection thread?) I've always been a SNES man but have got into the MD much more in recent months.

Someone was selling an original Strider for £250 amongst a huge lot of PCBS a week or so back on an arcade forum. It might have been on JammaPlus but not sure. It's probably sold by now anyway. Trouble is when you are only looking for a few specific PCBS they don't come up very often a good price

Mega Drive has a many many classic games! I haven' t made a list of my collection yet. I also have some Mega CD games. Among my recent add ons are Bare Knuckles III, X- Ranza and Super Shinobi II. I also have aquired for Mega CD The Terminator, Batman Returns and Earthworm Jim SE

For Snes / Sfcm I have less games but I believe I have the best of the system. R-Type 3, Super Castlevania IV, Choko makaimura, Super Aleste and Axelay are some of my recent add ons.

All my games are complete and at least at very good state

RiKo
Sounds like you have great MD games. I like that you are collecting for Mega CD too.

I always feel that the SNES kind of has a less choice of games but the games that are good are *really* great.

I've only bought maybe 6 MD games myself so far. The rest came in huge lots (all boxed and complete). There are some good ones but possibly (haven't played them myself yet) bad ones too liek Greendog, Home Alone and James Pond games (was never a big fan of those on the Amiga!)

I'll make a thread when I get them all together

Make a new thread for Mega Drive / CD / 32x and we will post there. We may make a SNES thread too.
Both consoles are great and I like them equal.

I would also like to add that many of those 16 bit games have very hight production values and are on par (graphics and gameplay) in quality with arcade games. I don't mean arcade ports I mean 16 bit exclusive games like Bare Knuckle 2 & 3, R-Type 3, Musha, Axelay, Super Turrican 1 & 2, Mario, Sonic and many more

RiKo
Those are all great games. I really want Bare Knuckle 2. I wasn't a big fan of the first Streets of Rage. I played it with a friend the first ever time and actually got bored by the time we had got a few levels in! I hear the sequels are much better. Musha is another one I haven't played that looks good.

-----------------------------------------------

I just got a couple of these Qanba Fightsticks to use with my supergun setup. They will be ideal for my CPS2 games that use 6 buttons. I'm testing with Double Dragon here because I need to get a longer kick harness before I can get 6 button functionality on CPS2

They are USB sticks but I use Undamned convertors so they fit the Mak Strike. The adaptors also allow you to assign actions to buttons on the stick anyway you want, which is very useful.

About Musha, evrything is gameplay rather than graphics. You want to play again and again. Denin Aleste on Mega CD is equal in gameplay quality plus better graphics!

About Undamned convertors, I was to buy one but he was too busy at the time and it didn't work out. I would like to use my SF4 TE stick with my consolized MVS2 slot.

Do you notice any lag?
I have read somewhere that those USB sticks have quite a few lag. There was a forum discussion about differences in versions of Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike arcade vs mame vs PS2. Arcade version feels smoother than mame without being able to explain the reason. Some one there measured milliseconds of lag in all versions too and those sticks unfortunately have some

I have a SF4 TE stick (You can see it under my TV) But I lost the little bit on the end that connects to the USB when I moved house. I would test it for you otherwise. I love that stick, it just feels in a different zone of quality to everything else. Although it was my first high quality stick.

green beret wrote:

I honestly thought they seemed more responsive that the Neo Geo stick I was using previously! Probably psychological but definitely no noticeable lag.

I didn't know that about USB sticks, but it seems they all vary. I just found this lag test http://www.teyah....rview.html There's probably other lag tests out there, so worth checking to see if any stick you want to use has been tested.

It seems you have found a good article about lag of fight sticks. Mine is theMad Catz Tournament Edition Round 1 and it has +7.52 ms of lag. The dual shock 4 in comparison has +1.83 ms.

I use a custom built arcade stick that I can use with a PS3 or PC, that has no noticable lag. It uses a Cthulhu PCB, a Sanwa stick and I think Seimitsu buttons.
My arcade stuff

Great!
I need either a custom one or a PS4 TE 2+ (No lag)

RiKo
Unless you're playing tournaments you probably don't need to worry too much. My Framemeister XRGB Mini adds a frame of lag (16 m/s) which is twice the lag on your stick. So far I've only used it to play Neo Geo AES games and I didn't notice any lag (although obviously it must be there). Lots of people use the XRGB mini. A lot of HD TVs will add lag on top of that too.

Very happy because I finally got Rainbow Islands!

i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a566/RichWatMov/20170223_201605b_zps0gvmyvuc.jpg

Used to play the Amiga version of this loads - it was a great version at the time although in retrospect it has to be said it suffered a bit from basically being an ST port.

I bought my Rainbow Islands pcb from a Spanish arcade owner. He has an excellent retro-cade. See this vid.

Very nice purchase Rico! I love all Taito series. I have Liquid Kids and New Zealand Story. I play them sometimes, mostly Liquid Kids because New Zealand Story is very tough

You are right about lag. I use the stick for my Xbox360 and PC fighting games

RiKo
Thanks beret Thumbs Up it took me about 4 months to find one. It's such a nice game. I think maybe at the moment my favourite game, just after Ghouls n Ghosts. I really want to get R-Type next. But again a hard game to find at a good price.

Great games! I love New Zealand story in particular (again used to play it a lot on the Amiga). Do you know which version do you have? I recently found out there's a ridiculous number of versions of that game (4 I think) with different layouts and warps. Most of the home versions (apart from Megadrive) were based on the old Japanese version.

You can tell by the first screen which version you have.

Yes of course I know Riko, I have the new World & Japan version. It's very difficult

RiKo
Very nice, I heard the new one has better animation and more background gfx in places too. I think I will probably go for the original Japan one, just because it is familiar to me from playing the Amiga version (a lot!).

The new version has an udated hardware and there is an additional board on the top of the old board. That's why the better backgrounds in places. I was looking for this board and found it.
It's an epic game

I finally got a new (and very clean) A board for my Ghouls n Ghosts. Going to test it tomorrow. A boards seem quite hard to get hold off. Possibly because so many get broken. Really hoping it works. (G n G didn't work so well with my Strider A board for some reason!)

Great! Please let us know if everything is ok now Wink

RiKo
Thanks Beret. It's all working now. At first the game just made a "phut phut phut" sound and I thought the new A board was broken but after testing Strider on it and then trying G + G again - G + G started working fine. Must have not been plugged in fully.

It's been quite a few months but I finally have a working Ghouls n Ghosts Joe
