Well, courtesy of VGI, I took delivery of my Diggerman AES conversion today. Bought it purely for the rarity and oddity value, but actually spent an hour playing it straight off. Very basic visuals and sound I know, but kind of fun and compulsive in a really retro way. Has that 'just one more go' quality, where you learn every time you die. Certainly not brilliant, but not the disaster I thought it might be. The AES conversion seems to lack an attract mode (can anyone confirm this please?) so you have to play it a bit to know what's going on (or watch the YouTube video). It came with a very professional Jap inlay in the box, but no manual. Compared to some other meg-hungry carts I have, this isn't the worst in my collection by a long way (Riding Heroes, Pop n' Bounce, League Bowling anyone?)
Go forward for make away as joystick. Push A button for approach of enemy. Break of enemy for A and B. Make high score for break get together - Neo Mr Do!
How much did you end up having to pay for something like that? I've seen that game, but don't think I could ever bring myself to buying a homebrew on the Neo-Geo. I've come close with NGDV, but still couldn't see spending much on something like Digger Man.
