i know this is the TV thread but hey Pfft

just got back after seeing Eragon ... this film does not do any justice to the book, as always, but in its own right it is a very good film Thumbs Up

i personally found the story line to be rushed and i found myself wondering if the story could be just a little bit confusing for viewers who have not read the book.

the cgi was faultless until one error right at the end (sorry shan't tell) the scenery and sets were not as professional as they could have been and they lacked the awe inspiring vistas described in the book

all in all i enjoyed the film as a whole and i didnt yawn once, even though it started late (23:30)

so my rating for this film is a very healthy 7.5 Smile
Having not read the books I wouldn't be able to comment too much really. The film does look good but it's not often that any film really does a book proper justice.

Did hear a couple of reviews yesterday and they weren't very positive, but they were trying to compare the film to LOTR and not talking about much else, which seemed a bit unfair. Don't think this is one I'll see at the cinema to be honest, will probably wait for the DVD.

LOTR is no comparison ... so its very unfair as you said 12 out of 10 is my rating lol
LOTR is great, but I hate it when people are obsessed with finding other movies to compare stuff to, I don't know why certains critics find it impossible to judge stuff on its own merits. Comparing is ok, but basing your whole review on how another film is better is just daft Smile

I had never even heard of Eragon up until a month or so back when the commercials started running constantly.

At this point Im sick to death with all the Fantasy movies of the last several years, for me the LOTR movies while good in their own right have made me not want to sit through any more movies of the genre.

To cap it off the Narnia movie was plain horrible and certinly didnt do the books one shred of justice, but then again not many book based movies can or do.

I will probably watch Eragon eventually but for now Im tired of all this stuff, espicially anything with dragons in it... Its just so damn cliché in the genre.

I will watch it after it hits DVD.
