I was at Game Stop and picked up the 3DS XL on a whim. I knew I would like it so it was not a hard decision. The consensus is... I like it.
It's still a 3DS so if you don't like what the 3DS has to offer you probably still will not like this, but if you like the 3DS you'll love the XL. It's the same great handheld with a larger screen the 3D effects looks so much better. It feels so much better in my hands.
As a bonus Game Stop threw in Steel Diver for free and I also picked up the Final Fantasy music themed game.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Still need to pick up a 3DS... the only thing that stopped me is that I don't have to travel much nowadays so I'm not sure how much I'd use it...

nice purchase Daraku have they made any changes to the 3D camera at all? was wondering if they have improved the quality or anything like that

From what I've noticed it seems everything is stock except for the sure size. And no cradle... but I was expecting that. They really should have added a 2nd analog stick.

being cynical i think they probably want to release another model at some point - everytime they release a new model they get a sales boost. It would actually suck for them if the first version was perfect.

LOL sound familiar doesn't it?
Fatal Fury Special
World Heroes Jet
World Heroes Perfect
Street Fighter CE
Super Street Fighter
Samurai Shodown 5 Special
The sad thing is I feel compelled to get all the different iterations.

They are all games that received a slight update to correct errors or to tweek gameplay and add additional enhancements. Riko said " It would actually suck for them if the first version was perfect." so I was reffering to the first versions not being perfect.

I absolutely love it! I don't play handhelds on the go very often so I don't have need for it to be compact... just compact enough to bring into the crapper with me. My hands don't fall asleep after playing this for hours like they did when I used the original system for hours. (If I'm on the crapper my legs on the other hand are another story). The bigger screen is so much better, but the sound is slightly quieter.

Hi DarakuTenshi
Do you have Super Street Fighter IV for your 3DS XL?
If so is the d-pad better & are you able to pull of special & supers easier?
If the d-pad is the same I will probably stick with my 3DS |

Yes SF4 was one of my first games for the 3DS when I originally bought it. But no... no difference. It does not help the game any.

i know it a bit off topic but i have SF4 too, was really cheap brand new. It doesnt really help having it in 3D (i make mine 2D) but its a really great version! I didnt like how they put the special moves on the touch pad, because it takes away some of the skill. and means anyone can do them at will. Although I suppose thats the point though.

Yeah I never play the 3D mode or the 2D Mode in 3D. I turn that junk off. As for the touch screen controls it was a bit of a disappointment, but even more of a disappointment was how much more difficult that it was to pull of Supers in that game because of the button layout.

yes the 3D mode where it's at an angle is very strange!. i think it's just to give it a 3D gimmick esp since it was an early game. Its' not really playable like that. Yes the supers are a bit tricky - and the controls are tougher in general compared to home-console, but for a portable version it's pretty good.

Yes it is a good game and I've put way too many hours into it for a handheld game

I actually played on a 3DS XL today for the first time, and I really liked it. I think the bigger screen does make the 3D more impressive. Also it's not *too* big. I was epxecting it to be larger for some reason,I do want one but I'm pretty sure Nintendo will bring out a new version at some point so I'm going to wait for a while, but it's possible i will cave in at some point
Incidentally i think this page has it pretty spot-on when it comes to the good and bad points of the system.

Just like the DS XL before it... I fell in love when I first got it in my hands. The XL on both systems are my favorite versions of each. The only complaints that they address that I agree with are... Charging Cradle and No 2nd analog.
As for the "too big for little hands" my 8 year old daughter plays it and has no issues at all. She prefers the 3DS XL.

l was totally uninterested in the 3DS in the first place until i actually played on one, and it was specifically Pilot Wings and Mario 3D Land that I played in a shop and I thought 'The 3D is great!' and 'The 3D actually improves the gameplay!'.
Actually i wouldnt be bothered about the charging cradle since i dont use mine, but i def agree about the cameras in that article they really do suck on the orginal and on the bigger screen they cant be good. And yes the 2nd analog stick - you just know if there is a 3DS 2 it's going to have a 2nd stick so might as well introduce it now in this model.
Nintendo always do weird things amongst all the great things they do - though like with the GBA when it had so many SNES ports but not as many buttons as the SNES, and then they gave the GBA SP first of all no light on the screen then later a rubbish (blue tinged) front lit screen before later introducing a proper back-lit model. Maybe it is all planned after all?
