Once more it's time to cover one of the many quality titles for SNK's very own handheld console, this week Metal Slug: 2nd Mission is the chosen one. The much-anticipated sequel of 1st Mission was generally very well received and got high ratings from reviewers all over the world.
By the way, if you beat the game once, it allows the player to select a new character: A rebel soldier (yes, from the Morden Army) called Tequila.
A High Score Challenge like we conducted in Metal Slug: 1st Mission could be possible as well, you guys please request one so Priest knows that there is any demand for it.
Metal Slug: 2nd Mission
Genre: Run 'n Gun Players: 1 Size: 32 MEGS Released on: NGPC
Brief Description:
Take control of the Metal Slug tank on the NGPC once again, this time to defeat the rebel strike force "Phantom." Travel through 38 stages in a non-linear battle path defeating enemy troops and rescuing hostages. Pilot the Metal Slug tank, Slug Flyer combat jet, and the Slug Sub submarine and fire the heavy machine gun, rocket launcher, and fire gun. Two unique playable characters, a list of rescued hostages, and a time attack mode add depth to this side-scroller.
It plays nothing like real Metal Slugs IMO. It's more of an adventure/platformer than a white knuckle action game. Hence, I was quite disappointed when I bought this back in the day (in hindsight, it wasn't realistic to expect the NGPC to output high processing power similar to the MVS). However, if you can accept the different gameplay style for what it is, then SM is a decent offering.

You're all a bunch of snobby haters. "Oh its not on the "real" neogeo, it sucks, its not as good, if it's not on the MVS it isn't worth a try." screw you! this is a damn fine game and I will defend it it. And I would love another HSC for NGPC. Gotta get both medals.
Well, yesterday I tried giving the game another go, but I just couldn't get into it (after several episodes of trying to throughout the years). Honestly, I'd go as far as to say if you take away the Metal Slug IP, you got a pretty standard — if not boring — adventure platformer, but maybe that's because I generally don't like platformers.
