Hi there
leightonandoff
Hello all.
Fairly new to the scene. Been actively buying MVS carts since last year, when I finally got my first arcade cab. Before then I was buying the PS2 conversions by Ignition for my SNK fix. So much nicer playing them on a proper cab, just like it should be.

I was introduced to this site by member -SD-, who I'm friends with in real actual life. He also sold me my MV1C motherboard, Metal Slug X and Last Blade carts, kick-starting all of this for me, so I guess I should say thank you to him: Thank you -SD-
2 player Windjammers FTW! Headbang

Hi and welcome to NGFL, Leighton! I'm sure you'll enjoy your time here. Thumbs Up

To finally have the real deal in form of a MVS cabinet must be a great feeling, it's so much different from playing these games via emulation.

Have you got any favorite games so far? And Windjammers is certainly one of the best 2 Player games in existence, I have no doubt about it!

Welcome to the site Leightonandoff Thumbs Up Ste is right, you have some *really* great games there. It's all downhill from now on.... (not really lol)

I dont really like playing Neo Geo games on other formats either. The same with any system really. It's always much better playing on the genuine hardware.

also good work SD for recruiting a new member Terry

Hi leightonandoff. Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you already have a nice MVS collection. What kind of cab do you have? I'd be interested to see a photo. Mai

Here she is. Yes, I know the buttons aren't in the correct colour order, but I'm lazy. When I finally get round to replacing the sticks I'll do the buttons as well.
As you can see, it's just a generic woody. The cab itself isn't remarkable, but where I got it from is a bit surprising. She was found at the junk stall in Peterborough market. They never usually have anything good, except for this one time when they had the most amazing thing ever! Only cost £50 as well! It came with a Football Champ PCB, but hey, you can't have it all.
I decided to focus on MVS as I can't be bothered to faff around putting extra buttons in it to accommodate JAMMA +, and I've always had a soft spot for SNK (As -SD- mentioned, I also have a Pocket Colour).

My current games:

King of Fighters '98.
Last Blade.
Metal Slug X.
Windjammers.
Neo Turf Masters.
Puzzle Bobble.
Shock Troopers.
Twinkle Star Sprites.

All legit too Smile
TSS, Windjammers & Puzzle Bobble get the most play, as the cab is used almost exclusively for 2 player games, but I enjoy them all.

Sorry for the lengthy post. :$

Your cab looks in great condition and for £50 that's a real bargain. Thumbs Up All those games you've bought so far are excellent. I particularly like Twinkle Star Sprites out of those. The TSS MVS cart seems to be quite expensive these days and not so easy to get hold of.

leightonandoff
You're right about Twinkle Star Sprites, it was the most I've ever paid for a game. £150, plus £20 P&P. Shock
So worth it though, one of the most original games I've ever played. -SD- is gonna sell me his copy of Blazing Star, which is nice, and the next game I'd really like is Garou.

I've wanted a cab since I was about 5 years old, can't believe it took me this long to acquire one really. The only thing I worry about is when the monitor goes pop, with CRT being obsolete now. Real Sad

When that unfortunate day comes I'll get me soldering iron out and consolize a 2-slot for you with that CGA-VGA scaler I have kicking about Thumbs Up I would do the 1C, but I really can't be arsed to solder all those wires for the pad ports Beard

You found a CR2032 battery holder yet?

And I thought you despised soldering...

After a week of forgetting, I finally went to Maplin today only to be told they'd sold out, should have some more battery holders in stock by next weekend.Real Sad
I can see our houses Metal Slug X high score board getting a lot of action once it's re-installed though, and this time I'm not gonna be in second place. Andy

Aah yeah, I have a NGPC. It's the camo blue one. Had it since 2000. Best controller of any handheld system ever.
That Neo-Geo X looks interesting as well, I just hope they keep the stick exactly the same. After all, if it isn't broke, don't fix it.
