Indeed a very rare item, the description in the bid speaks for itself:
This has to be one of the rarest Neo Geo items on Ebay, I don't think I have ever seen one come up for sale. It is the Neo Geo CD King of Fighters Special 95 Item Box!
The rarest of the rare Neo Geo item, specifically Neo Geo CD, but obviously collectable for any Neo fan.
This rare item was a "not for sale" item and could only be obtained by subscribers of Neo Geo Freak magazine in Japan and SSC club members as far as I am aware. They were also supposedly handed out by SNK representatives to their special contacts, distributers and friends. For the public to acquire one of these, they had to fill out a special entry form and send it into NGF magazine Japan or SSC to be drawn at random. Only 500 of these museum box sets were ever made, so, yeah, pretty rare!
The box includes everything you see in the pictures, two post cards, three stickers, a metal "button" at least that's what I think it is. It is basically what you see the SNK character on the front of the box wearing on his collar on his jacket...how cool is that!
There is also a black and white paper booklet which features some cool artwork from the game and character design sketches etc. The coolest thing though has to be the 15 paper "tiles" with colour artwork of various characters and other artwork.
I think '95 to '96 were quite big years for SNK as they were doing PR like crazy for all their games, especially KoF. Just think of the KoF '96 Collectors CD as well.
I'd love to get another SNK give-away like this one, but to fork out 50 Pounds just for some cards and a Kyo metal pin seems a bit inappropriate for me.
