ZERO GUNNER 2
STE C
As you guys know I am a big Dreamcast fan, thus I have been spending a lot of time this week playing Psikyo's Zero Gunner 2. I honestly believe that this could be the greatest shump of all time ( seriously), so who else has played it and who likes it. I know that Ninja has a copy and is most likely a fan of the game ( I saw it looking handsome in your games room Shinobi).

Discuss ect

It's definitely one of the best shmups on the Dreamcast and a firm favorite of mine. I haven't played it in a while but I'm sure that I remember favoring the Hokum over the others. It also looks absolutely stunning running through a VGA box.

EDIT: Looks like I've clicked the 'Post Reply' button 100 times.

GREAT GAME, DEAD THREAD: YEAH?...
Shame, as it's a magnificent game. It comes with a mechanic that makes you question: why hasn't there been a shmup that's done this before? It's that good. Basically, you can (by holding a button) rotate your craft through ANY direction. Release the button and you remain locked in your last angle/position. It works - amazingly.

Also, shmups should always have MORE Helicopters as the main craft - because they're cooler than planes, jets and ships etc when placed in such fantastically imagined worlds. Zero Gunner 2 is great proof of this Wink

It's a very stylish game, has great music and the player craft are all fantastic to use.

Up there with the unavoidably comparable Under Defeat as two of the best shmups for the DC - although, the DC's list of shmups, tbh - is pretty flawless on the whole anyway!

I snagged my copy of ZG2 at the 2010 Otakon anime convention in Baltimore. Fantastic shooter, easily one of my faves on the DC. The first time I played it, the independently pivoting turret made the game feel like a gorgeous, shmup version of Robotron 2084 or Ikari Warriors Headbang IMO, it's a bit on the easy side at any difficulty setting below 5 (which I believe is default for the arcade version).

One of the best shoot em ups for the DC without a doubt only beaten by Under Defeat in my opinion.
