Pacquiao v. Mayweather Jr.

I realize Boxing overall doesn't draw as much interest as it did it the "golden years" but this fight has always intrigued me. It's looking like both sides might be closing in on a deal. At least it's closer than it's ever been, after 2+ years of dodging outside the ring does anyone think this superfight will live up to the hype? Any predictions?

i love boxing and some of the best fights ever in recent years, especially with the super-six recently. Boxing as a whole still sucks though with all the different organisations and alphabet titles, its no wonder UFC is gaining in popularity.

I am a big Pacquiao fan but i see Mayweather taking this fight. He's only been tagged a couple of times his whole career and Pacquiao was lucky to get the decision against Marquez in his last fight. Having said that - there's no doubt that Pacquiao is an awesome fighter and he definitely has a big chance of winning. but my head says Mayweather.

Really what worries me about this fight is that by the time it happens one of the fighters will be past his best, and the result will be tainted because of that:(

does anyone think this superfight will live up to the hype?

i think Mayweather will box a smart fight and try to nullify pacquiao so i cant see it being a great fight in an exciting way. should be intriguing though...

Great breakdown. I am pretty much in the same boat. If anyone could tag Mayweather flush, it would be Pac Man. However, I think Mayweather is the only person on Earth that Pacquiao can't break through at some point. Just way too solid technically as much as I despise the guy. There's always that "Puncher's Chance" though. Very fire/ice matchup.

looking forward to it if this fight ever happens Smile Mosley almost dropped Mayweather but then Mayweather was standing toe to toe to prove a point, and then after the first few rounds he went back to his normal style and just picked off Mosley at will. I think he will be more cautious against pac man. Pacquiao is fast though so yes he definitely could catch mayweather.

Not interested in a fight between these two. There are much more interesting matches to set up, IMO. Last night was an amazing fight night in Puerto Rico. The undercard was infinitely more entertaining than any HBO/PPV/Showtime broadcasts I've seen in many months. The most unknown fighters can prove way more explosive than "clash of the titans" dream matches; they were very evenly matched until the end. It really requires the fan to watch anything and everything boxing, to make sure the fan is not missing out on quality fights.

yes you get some really good domestic fights. Often its the ones wth evenly matched fighters. A lot of the top fighters are protected for their first 15 fights or so, before they are even given someone who might actually test them. Fights vary so much though. One of my favourite fights *ever* was the first Morales Vs Barrera fight. 100% action all the way. but the 2nd one was totally different, a bit of a let down really.
