Samurai Shodown tips needed!

Ive been trying to beat all my games, and im stuck on Samurai Shodown (on normal). I can get past two or three apponents but man, this game's kinda tough. Ive tried alot of different tactics with different characters but the ai seems pretty much inpenetrable. Any advice? I dont care if its a shamelessly cheap tactic. I just want to beat it for the love of All things holy!

Who are you going with?

Try Gen An, jump in close and drill, also jump attack followed by low attack...

The thing with that game's AI, dont use repetitive tactics because it adapts to them pretty quickly. Like, anything you repeat 2 times in a row, on 3rd time will get you punished.

Well. Still no luck. Though the Gen An spin is fairly effective. Ive also found that just playing an overall safe/ poking game with Hoamaru seems to work to an extent. But, as i said, still havent beat the game, or even made it to the boss yet. I am making Progress though. And i just beat world Heroes today so thats one more checked off the list! That and Fatal fury are the only two ive beat so far. Not much of a hardcore gamer, but nothing wrong with a good challenge ; ) btw im playing only on neogeo station on ps3. I am a big fan of these games so anyone wanting to play online shoot me a message.Thumbs Up

When drilling, keep tapping B as fast as you can, you drill faster, which means you take less time.

I think playing defensive / not too aggressive against the CPU might be an effective method to succeed. And don't underestimate the effects of (mid-air) kicks and low cuts, these are very useful throughout the game.

I remember SS1 and especially the sequel being pretty hard, you will be relieved when playing the newer installments from SS3 on.

That's right! Now that we speak Samurai Shodown I really need to have the first one soon. I'm a big fan of Samurai Spirits IV and SSII.

SSII is one of the most well crafted games I have ever played !

Absolutely not :-) SSIII is very hard, but not the best game in the series. I think it's a little unpolished and rushed out. I like the dark side of the game.

I indeed do, I think SS2 was much tougher in certain parts (only remembering Mizuki gives me Goosebumps), although the third installment isn't a walk in the park as well.

It must be the gameplay which I prefer in SS3 and makes things easier for me.

Id say so yes, cause i find the 3rd one f***en hard as hell!! I can finish the 2nd one but havent spent alot of time on it yet, awesome game, and will be getting to it soon.

First one, well, look at the high score thread for it and i need say no more Wink It is one of my all time favourite games for sure.

SS3 AI was heavily scripted as I remember, so it was possible to beat even Zankuro with full health, by pressing a command that visually does nothing the AI was triggered into making slash outside of attack range, and you could punish it every time afterwards
