NGDEV actually hired some pixel artists to create parts of the ingame artwork, the results speak for themselves.

According to the developers, these artists will stick to future projects as well.

Furthermore, a new trailer will be released this week, so stay tuned.

Current release date schedule:

- Gunlord MVS: 26th March

- Gunlord DC: 14th June

- Gunlord AES: 2nd quarter 2012

Main reason for the late AES release are the shells and snap cases. As soon as we have those in stock a release only takes 14 days. We are currently working on a deal using original SNKP manufactured shells and snap cases (no sacc. carts). These kind of deals are always slow and expensive. But the progress is very good. We will keep you updated. If the deal works out as planned there will be unlimited supplies of new AES snap cases/shells for future projects.

As you can see the dates have been pushed back once again. MVS owners might actually get to play the game this month, but us Dreamcast folk are having to wait another 2 months since the last given date.

How fucking epic was that! I mean this quote could be from an 80s Arnie movie as well!

The original Turrican 2 contained a Horizontal Shmup stage as well, that's one more hint this will be a (perfected?) Turrican clone. Now I'm one step closer considering to definitely get a Dreamcast, really.

And just as expected, the score by Rafael Dyll is fucking sweet, even with some guitar riffs in the Shmup stage.

really like the look of the shmup section. very nice bonus Thumbs Up why do they keep making videos that are so small though? maybe they just like the high resolution look Smile

looking forward to getting my MVS version, looks like this release date is for real this time.

+ That dragon looks awesome, wish it had a bit more animations though, doesnt seem to do much except fly.

This is looking REALLY good. I really haven't looked forward to a game this much in a very long time. The 2D graphics look gorgeous, the music is superb. Thinking about upgrading to LE, just for the ST.

Yeah it could use some more animation, but the game looks good all over. Hope I somehow can get me a MVS copy some day.

Graphics in the shooting section really remind me of Project-X on the Amiga. Wonder if its inspired or not cos i thought i read that some of the guys had previously programmed for the Amiga.

when it came out. I used to try and have 2P game son it with my mate (from my school days) too. It used to 'seamlessly' change direction mid-level between horizontal and vertical gameplay.

Above all: it was sh*t.

Gameplay was painfully average. Weapon damage dealt by your ship was pathetic, even at the higher levels. Avoid!

I heard Capcom published the Japanese PS1 release and, in the process, the game was improved slightly too. Not enough though I suspect? Wink

Just got this from NGDevteam

Dear customers,

sorry for the delay.

We shipped all orders as long as the Shockbox stock hold.

But currently some Shockboxes are held back by customs due to bureaucracy. There was recently a change in policy for businesses importing from outside of Europe, we have filed the applications but it takes a little bit longer as they are overwhelmed. We are now waiting for over 5 weeks since shipment from USA for them, but chances are good, that we will receive it next week.


I checked my order status and it says' shipped' but i havent actually got an email to say its been sent. so i have no idea if mine is on the way or not. I did buy it on the first day so there is a good chance.

EDIT : just searched found an email i missed that says it's on it's way Grin

sorry Ninja missed you there.

that's a shame i thought it looked quite good just in terms of gfx. Mind you a lot of people dont like the original Project X. I think it was mainly good because it was on the Amiga, and on that you were normally pretty happy if a game scrolled smoothly, and could throw around a few sprites. you didnt really care about much else Smile i think Soldner-X got slated for basing some of its gameplay on Project X.

Good news is that i received Gunlord on MVS today. bad news is i have a few issues to sort through with NGDevteam before i can play it. Nothing too serious, but i dont want to say what they are at this point until i have spoken to NGDevteam about them. i dont think it would be fair. Really great to have the game though Thumbs Up

EDIT : ok all fixed now. Thanks to Timm at NGDevteam for getting back to me so quickly. Basically the limited edition number on my Gunlord was 312, and since i ordered on release day when there were only 150 copies available, i thought this was far too high. (My Fast Striker LE is 133 and i ordered that maybe a month after it was released)

This is the explanation, this may have been somewhere on the website but if it was i missed it.

the numbering scheme for Gunlord is 3xx xx is the LE number
Last Hope Pink Bullets is 2xx xx is the LE number
Fast Striker is 1xx xx is the LE number


so it means that i have the 12th copy of Gunlord which is pretty nice. I never actually sell my games - but it is nice to have a low number copy, esp when you are paying a lot for a game. I didnt want to play the game and get wear marks on it, until i was sure i had received the right one, but i can now Thumbs Up

I also wanted to check the manual was ok, because it has these white smudge/wear marks on the back. It did look like it was printed on, but at the same time it looked pretty random, and i thought it might have been a fault in the printing, but no apparently it's part of the design, so thats all good too.

so the only slightly bad thing is that the one of the 3 stickers that came with the game is a torn slightly and has a corner bent over. When i opened the box they were half falling out the top (hence the damage). Timm (NGDevteam) says these are a bonus and were put in at the last moment. I have asked for a replacement for the one that is damaged. Again not a big deal but when you are paying a lot for something you want everything to be perfect.

So all good, looking forward to enjoying the game Smile

it's not working at the moment :

Using the MVS Convertor II it goes into a loop of 'Please Wait' screens and then those weird graphics i get when other NGDevteam games start and it says

' MCU error FFFG Reboot required' and there is also a number 4444 in the top right of the screen

with the Daedalus convertor it says Z80 Error and there is no sound but i can see intro screens and game menu, although it takes a while to get it to do anything when it is like this.

I wrote to NGDevteam and they told me they thought i needed to try it a few more times. e.g. taking out the cart and re-inserting it. I'm not sure if this this will work since i have already done this a few times but i will try again tomorrow. not spending any more time on it today, cos it will just p*ss me off. you know how it is when things dont work.... lol

would be interested to hear if there are any other people are running it through a convertor ok? My AES has Unibios 3.0, but its fine with Last Hope : Pink Bullets and Fast Striker (both MVS)

Not really because it's like the system seems to pause for a while every time it flashes the message up but......

I just got it working properly!

First I tried it on the Super MVS Convertor II about 5 times and no luck on that. I tried Pink Bullets also and that worked first time just to make sure it wasnt me.

Then i put it in the Daedalus convertor and it didnt work - nothing at all - just a blank screen so i took it out and decided to *really* make sure it was fully inserted. I had to put all of my weight on it (literally) when i was inserting it but when i tried it after that it worked fine. This is a bit worrying for future use (it will probably destroy the convertor at some point) so i am going to see how it goes next time i play it.

THE GAME : (cant play long today because i am with some of my family today but i managed about about a 12 minute play). This won't come as a surprise but really really reminds me of the original Turrican, inc the level design and those small flying enemies. I was never a huge fan of the Turrican but i am enjoying this so far. (its worth noting that a lot of people love the Turrican games so the similarities could be a good thing for many people) I was being quite careless in my play but even so the game starts off fairly easy - as long as you are patient because you could probably destroy most enemies from a distance. Most of the times i died was when i took leaps of faith straight onto spikes. Graphics are great - love the parallax scrolling clouds in the background and there's a bit where it turns stormy which is quite atmospheric. control is very responsive, and i had no trouble jumping between platforms, seemed quite easy to judge distances. Picked up a few different weapons, including a super shot that you could only fire horizontally (a trade off for it's power). Also there's some vertical and ceiling surfaces you can climb and hang from on the first level which add some extra things to do. Good first impressions, all the basics seem to fine so far, looking forward to seeing how much variety they have got in there in the later levels, and also fightng the bosses.

After finishing playing i tried it in the Super Convertor II again and still no luck even pushing it in quite hard - makes me wonder if maybe there is something in the cartridge deisgn that stops it going in all the way because with the daedalus convertor there isn't anything that stops the cartridge apart from the metal connectors, whereas the MVS convertor II has a plastic bottom that stops it going beyond a certain point.

Pick up some Deoxit D5, it's a contact cleaner that also works as a lube so it should make inserting the game into the converter a lot easier. Just spray some on a qtip and wipe the cart edge.

don't appear to be very lucky when they send their items out :(

I ordered a BOTH copies of Fast Striker from them for the DC, and my LE... which I did NOT want to open, had the bottom corner of the case ground away - through the official shrink. To top this off, one of the discs inside had come loose. I was a bit ticked, as I HAD to open it all up to reseat the disc. I also swapped out the damaged box while I was there Roll Eyes

EXACT same thing happened when I received my LE DUX from René too. The disc had come loose, so I had to open it up and reseat it. Not only that, but the disc had scratched too! I was proper pissed off! Annoyed

Whatever, I'm just glad that your issues fixed Riko. Not only that, but it's great news that you have finally been able to solve the issue of not being able to play it.

As you may have already read elsewhere, I'm a big fan of MEGA Turrican and also Super Turrican too. As such, I can't wait to grab this game. I've ordered the Dragon Box for DC, as dropping £400 on a title I've NEVER played before is 'a bit much' for me. Hats off to your dedication to the cause though dude Smile
