EDIT 090630: To update this post:

Me and my friend (JFG, thanks for the help) have now JAMMA-fied this cab (FINAL FIGHT PCB was soldered to the cab before). And these are some picture of the controlpanel which we have completely rewired (buttons and joysticks) and exchanged the buttons into glowing red buttons and also new pl1 / pl2 buttons, What do you think, better / worse / what?

Before:

213.132.112.100/images/91/9111737614.jpg

After:

img191.imageshack.us/img191/8471/kontrollpanelliten.jpg

img198.imageshack.us/img198/1569/kontrollpanelstor.jpg

We are having some problems with the monitor: When playing Final fight the screen is much too red. We have tryed to adjust this with the controlpanel for the monitor but not totally succesfully as you can see:

img261.imageshack.us/img261/5479/monitorfinalfight.jpg

img142.imageshack.us/img142/5346/monitorfinalfight2.jpg

And then we tryed a 1 slot NEO GEO motherboard with a multicart attached to it. Now the colors were OK but as you can see the "shape" of the screen isn´t 100%, We tryed to correct this also with the monitor controlpanel:

img150.imageshack.us/img150/9743/monitorneogeo.jpg

The FINAL FIGHT PCB (fingerboard / JAMMA) after the solder was removed, I think the end results are pretty good:

Tomorrow or Today to be correct (it´s past midnight and I should be asleep) we are going to continue working on this cab...There might be a continuation to this post...

Those buttons really work nicely on a cab like that and look great.
Getting the monitor just right is really a pain in the ass, I tried to correct the picture of one of my cabs, but in the end I found out it wasn't getting any better so I'm happy with it the way it is. It's impossible to get monitors exactly the way you want them as operators don't really care if the picture is 100% okay, it just has to work and make some money...the only way to get a perfect picture is to buy a completely new monitor which an become a bit expensive, so I decided to be happy just the way everything is.
Maybe to get rid of the reddish picture, you should clean the area around contact nr12 a bit more so it doesn't have any solder on or around it anymore...could be something else though.

OK we´ll have to try that...ThanksThumbs Up

Today we:

* Conected the coin mechanism to the cab.

* Soldered a "Test switch"

...and then we went swimming, it´s been a really warm weather in SWEDEN the last 2 weeks.

On the subject I have sold this Cherry arcade cab to one of my friends today. I may have another project going on...Hmm

While not being the next "project" I mentioned in the post above, this time I have REALLY bought a toy namely: Capcom VS SNK 2 Millionaire Fighting 2001 Action Figures cosisting of MAI and CHUN LI. These figure sets were produced in a limited edition of 2000 pieces and were sold at San Diego Comicon 2005.

Now I have my very own MAI to "play" with. I got them pretty cheap tooSmile

Before I show you my most recently bought toys...I know that BLUERAY DVD won over HD DVD and that the HD DVD format isn´t supported any more.

I got 2 X BOX360 HD DVD boxed and complete one of them is completely new and I also got 9 HD DVDs from the same seller. Some really good titles like THE THING and LAND OF THE DEAD.

The reason I bought 2 X BOX360 HD DVDs is that I got them really cheap and I might sell one of them to a friend of mine.

Bought an XRGB-2plus (upscan converter) from Yahoo Japan. Amongst other things, I will use this to connect the Neo-Geo console to a VGA LCD monitor.

Nice purchase victorh! Please let us know what kind of results you get using this. We were actually discussing this subject in a chat meet recently. I just wanted to share this link in case anyone at NGFL finds it of use. It has loads of info about the various devices you can use to enhance the picture quality of retro games when played on an LCD TV.

I used to have a hori fighting stick 3 but didn't like it and sold it. But i always wanted to give a try hraps and ordered a hrap SA from play-asia. I hope i will like it. I was thinking to buy madcatz sf 4 TE stick but i heard they don't work with ps2 games on ps3.

QUITE LITERALLY...
looks stunning! I'm a big BIG fan of white and this looks sublime Thumbs Up

I have a HRAP myself, but whilst I CAN use it, I'm much better with a pad... I think it's all the face buttons that throw me! Particularly having 'shoulder' buttons on the far left. I'd be better off with 'just' 6 buttons I think (like the DC stick!).

Here's what my HRAP looks like... It has a nice looking mirror top!:

I think your hraps button layout is better. I'm also good with a pad but i think playing fighting games with arcade stick is more fun.

Just threw a Core 2 Duo machine together and picked a Asetek/Corsair H50 cooler.

sandog42.home.comcast.net/~sandog42/Corsair%20h50%20(2).JPG

Pretty impressive results on an E8200

Had an Asus Trident 70 on it first and came up with
Stock speed of 2.66Ghz
84F Idle
105F Full load

Currently running it @3.8Ghz stable after running for 2 days of Prime95

76F Idle
93F 90%
108-111F Full load

Couldn't get stability over 3.0Ghz with the Trident and the H50 is close to dead silent all the while. very decent buy at $78.00 imho.

I spent most of the eighties, most of my life, riding around in somebody else's car, in possession of, or ingested of, something illegal, on my way from something illegal to something illegal with many illegal things happening all around me.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a new camera:

Still have to figure out how to work with it as I was used to digital compact cameras and this is way different.

Well, I'm not big on electronics. Back in '02, when most people didn't know what an iPod was, I bought a 4 Gb iPod on eBay for around $400 (that was a good deal at the time; I believe they weree going for $500-600 retail). Unfortunately, I never received it (the guy must've changed his mind because he refused to give me the tracking number). Got a refund, but since that episode I never attempted to purchase another portable MP3 player (yeah, I know, technically the iPod isn't an MP3 player). Recently, however, I bought a new MP3 player, the Coby MP300. The price was too good to resist ($15). It works like the shuffle, except it has a backlight display. Actually, this thing kicks the iPod's i-ass because: 1. it's simple; all it does is play music (which is all you want a player to do, right?), 2. it actually plays MP3 files, not Apple's patented files, 3. it will connect to any computer without erasing itself. It's not like me to do free advertising, but the Coby MP300 is a hell of a bang for the buck, a great, highly recommended (for those electronically chellanged) MP3 device for the price of a meal at a restaurant. I got one of these in the mail today:

virtuafighter.com/vf5/ps3/images/ps3_hori_fs3.jpg

Costed me $25 (USD), including shipping.

I played some Pulstar, Garou, Puzzle Bobble 2X, and Shock troopers with it today.Verdict : this stick is definitely worth 25 bucks (they usually cost about $50)! It took a little hacking to get it working on my computer, but it was well worth 5 minutes. If anybody out there wants a decent stick to play with and is low on cash, I recommend this stick!
