I love it when people ask why a certain game was developed for PSP instead of PS3 and/or 360. The answer is in the numbers! Handheld gaming is just huge in Japan. I love my handhelds, but I hope to God they never fully replace consoles.

Monster Hunter and Valkyria Chronicles seem to be getting flack for that, and you're right, it's as simple as the sales figures. Whereas the US and Europe seem obsessed with HD and Yawn of Duty, Japan want their gaming on the go. I'm right there with them. I love my handhelds and in all honesty, my PSP gets far more game time than anything else I own/have access to. I don't spend a lot of time in front of the TV so portable gaming just suits me. Although sometimes I make time for retro-shenanigans, obviously.
