a thing of beauty ! why the doubles thou ?

NeoGeoNinja
YEAH, I WONDERED...
what the doubles were about to... although, I do own a few myself (on different formats i.e. 2x copy of Ico for PS2).

AND SUPERGRAFX...
you totally need a 'Photobucket' account dude! Your COLOSSAL sized image attachments ground my relatively powerful and modern Mac to an absolute halt! Shock Pfft

>>>>> http://photobucke... <<<<<

It's an absolute piece of piss and free's up your own HDD space too (although DON'T delete the originals! Just CD 'em or sommat?).

Just hit 'Upload Now' and away you go! This also allows you to fully display the photo's like some of us do already, as opposed to the hefty attachments! Looks much cooler and easier for others to navigate imo...

Like this astounding picture of my somewhat ASTOUNDING AES collection for example...

Ah well! Its a start, isn't it? You can add my newly acquired SS3 to that pic too (in your own mind I mean!).

Very nice collections and a great start for NeoGeoNinja.

I forgot to make a picture of my Pocket games, but this is my AES collection...I have to add that there are no conversions amongst these carts.

@Cthulhu
Awesome AES library as well!! Especially Twinkle Star Sprites and Kizuna Encounter are one hell of NG jewels!

@Supergrafx
MIND-BLOWING MVS collection you got there, seriously. Did you get all your inserts from Southtown Homebrew, respectively did you printed them all by yourself?

I'm thinking of buying some shockboxes for my few MVS carts as well, but with the shipping and all these prove to be pretty costly. I mean just for 5 to 7 simple plastic boxes I am asked to pay about $100 with all the trimmings...

@Ninja
Keep on rocking with your collection, SamSho II and especially III are splendid titles to own for the Neo! I'm confident that your collection will grow like toenails of a fearless East Asian shadow warrior (I suppose they grow that fast). Thumbs Up

I tend to look for bundles of carts or machines with games rather than individual games which is why there is some doubles in that lot.I do go after the odd individual game if it is in superb condition and will find a place in the A collection but prices these days make that a rare thing.
The only real rare AES games i own are Matrimelee and Sengoku 2 in near mint condition but they cost me an arm and a leg to buy.

I hear you Murikov,it can be extremely frustrating when the cost of shipping is more than the actual items you are buying.I do get all my shockboxes and inserts from Southtown but i always get the maximum number of boxes you can put in the large size shipping box which is 16.While the freight is still expensive it is not much more than if you were to buy 8 or 10 shocks.

THANKS CTHULHU & MURIKOV...
I appreciate the kind words. I simply plan to build my collection slowly but surely. I'm undecided as to start (properly) with some more extreme/expensive titles that I REALLY want (like Matrimelee, SVC or KOF03) or simply start at 'the bottom'. My next definite purchase will be Real Bout 1 probably followed closely by KOF95. After these, I'm undecided...

AND CTHULHU...
you have some truly excellent and rare/expensive titles in your collection. Very nice indeed! Thumbs Up

HAHAHAHA!
Thanks Priest! I love SNK and I love NEO•GEO/SNK's games but yes, you are right, whilst I don't doubt the AES platform itself, it's the cost that I find prohibitive. But like you've already alluded to: in time...

You're welcome and thanks...I'm a huge sucker for rare and extremely expensive games, the only problem is that I don't have the money to buy them without thinking anymore (new and more expensive house and a son of two years old). I still have a wish list that I'm definitely going to buy one day (Ninja Master's, Pulstar, Breakers, Rage of the Dragons and Savage Reign are my most wanted at the moment).
As for what to do when starting an AES collection, just buy whatever you want to have, as long as you can afford it. I started with some less expensive titles and after that saved up for the big ones (once in a while I get lucky and find one pretty "cheap" like Twinkle Star Sprites, which is rediculously expensive right now). If I were you I'd just buy some less expensive ones to have a nice start and have some games to play (there are quite some titles that are quite cheap and are very good), then once in a while indulge yourself and buy something more expensive.

THE DIFFICULTY COMES...
in actively wanting to buy prohibitively expensive AES games when I have perfectly good PS2 and DC versions. For example, I played MOTW and LBlade2 this evening with a friend and they were absolutely spot-on! Now I guess this can go BOTH ways: on one hand, honouring such pleasing experiences with the AES original and on the other hand not really wanting to spend X-amount when these versions are pretty much perfect! As I've said many times before (and no doubt ALL are bored of hearing this, so I apologise) I'm more than happy with MOST of the PS2 & DC ports etc.

HOWEVER...
there ARE some exceptions, and it may be worth my while starting 'there' first. For every PERFECT Real Bout and World Heroes compilation on PS2 there is a lazy-ass Last Blade compilation. As such, Last Blade 1 is VERY high on my priority list, as the PS2 comp version is pretty nasty I'm afraid (slowdown galore!). Of course I hope the AES version beyond measures up! Grin

There is of course the UNDENIABLE fact that having such amazing games )of all things) on an actual cartridge is beyond cool. For me, games such as KOF03, SVC & MOTW on a goddamn cartridge is just mindblowing! Shock

ANYWAY...
sorry for rambling on and thanks for your advice. What your saying is common sense really and, as such, makes perfect sense. However, common sense was never my strong point...

For me, switching over from AES to MVS was simply a value proposition, where I could get the vast majority of the Neo Geo library that I wanted and be able to play them the way they were intended... On arcade hardware in an arcade cab. Purist to the end. lol

I also agree Ninja, that the DC/PS2/Xbox/Wii and PSP ports have been very good and that being able to bring those collections around to friends places or tournaments and use modern controllers or sticks makes them even more enticing and enjoyable. I'm also a collector, so even tho I'm buying everything SNK I can get my hands on, when money allows. I'm sure I'll go back and get an AES and a Neo CD again someday, but and this is a big BUT, I already own many of these games multiple times, how much is too much? I mean other than the AES/Neo CD versions, I own every version of every KOF available right now except the gameboy and GBA games for example and that includes collections on multiple systems and xbla releases and sometimes the US and Japanese versions. How many versions/ ports of KOF 98's does one man need?... is that too much, do I need the AES/Neo CD versions? I think I know the answer and it's yes, but who can say?

I'm sure many of you have had these questions, maybe I've given you some answers or more questions. I'm not sure which lol

Hi Matt and welcome to NGFL, keep on dropping by! Thumbs Up

Very astounding collection, youv'e got almost every important series complete! I clearly comprehend the fact that you were collecting so patiently; to get titles like MS1, Twinkle Star Sprites or Kizuna Encounter a lot of cabbage and time is needed.

Thanks for sharing your pictures!

wow some great collections being posted. love all the MVS games in shock boxes Murrikov, very nice and an awesome collection you have there!

Cthulhu, very nice collection with some choice games, like Murikov says TSS and Kizuna Encounter are impressive games to own Smile

Ninja, nice AES collection so far, congrats on getting SS3, i know you like that game Smile and you have a memory card too. i never use mine, since i found out most games dont save high scores:( nice to have one though. i can tell your heart isnt in the collecting, but just get a few really good games like you say and enjoy them. the ports are good but they never are quite the same as on a neo with no loading times, and proper screen display (a lot of ports dont fill screen for example), so you do get a bit extra with the real thing, probably not Ł150 extra though! lol

King Gojulas - welcome to the site, very nice games you have, i want your Metal Slug X! (mine is on MVS and wont work on my AES grrr)
