Beast Busters is an arcade rail shooter first released in 1989. Its a light gun game similiar to House of the Dead and the like, and is surprisingly violent. So if you're a fan of light gun games, this should be to be interesting to try out. ^^
I myself have never played this, so I can't say much... Instead, join the discussion thread!
Genre: Rail Shooter Players: 3 Size: ?? (Can someone confirm size?) Released on: Arcade, Commodore Amiga, Atari ST
Beast Busters is a rail shooter arcade game released by SNK in 1989 and ported to the Commodore Amiga and the Atari ST in 1990. A city has been invaded by the undead. Play as one of 3 militiamen named Johnny Justice, Paul Patriot and Sammy Stately, who must shoot their way out of the city. The game was known for having irregular bosses, such as a zombie punk who mutates into a dog, or a jeep which starts coming to life. One stage ends with the militiamen having to rescue a female CIA agent from that stage's boss. A sequel entitled Beast Busters: Second Nightmare was released in 1999 on the Hyper Neo Geo 64.
Just downloaded this and did a complete playthrough. I thought it looked like a decent game but it was actually far better than I'd expected. Very fun game with fast paced exciting action and a lot of variety. There are loads of different enemies to fight including zombies and other mutants. The bosses are quite imaginative designs too especially the final boss which has a lot of different phases. I'd say that SNK were actually a pretty good arcade developer before the Neo Geo came out. I can't wait till they improve the emulation of the Hyper 64 sequel to this game which looks very good too.
Just in case anyone isn't already aware of this you need to play this with a mouse on Mame not a joypad otherwise you can't play it properly. I found trying it initially on Mame32++0.119 that the aiming and firing wasn't quite right but on a newer version of Mame it worked perfectly. This game would be pretty fun to try online especially with 3 players.
I think this is officially the least discussed game of the week ever. I hope a few more people will post their impressions of the game.

I really wanted to play this game. But ran into the same problems with controls. I did switch to mouse as you suggested to no avail. I too will try this game on a newer version of MAME. I really wanna play this since it seems to be one of the few Horror themed games that SNK released. Let me know what version of MAME you used via PM, also I'd like to play this 3P as well. Thanks.
shot in the eye
shot in the brain
shot in the ass...
I remeber buying this game for my Amiga 500. It was really awesome in it's day and was very popular among my friends.
I have never played the arcade version, but would be really nice if SNKP included this game in their next collection release, if there ever is one.
I had to click on forgettable. As I was headed into this thread I was thinking.. what is that game it sounds vaguely familiar. After seeing some the the pictures I remembered it. It really was just an okay game and I literally forgot what it was.
