Arcade in the making

yes TV series of Dr Who sucks a bit, was good back in its time though. pinball machine looks great though Thumbs Up

I visited you site to look at the machines, really nice site and i like that you put the scores online too. Very nice touch. How often do you update them?

I was wondering if you would ever get a sit down Space Harrier or a Robotron 2084? , those are both machines i would have in my dream-arcade

RiKo: I´m glad that you think "the doc" would be a worthy resident Smile

Please check the website out now and then...

We update the scoreboards as soon as there´s something to update. Me, Larsson and JFG are all authorised to update so the scoreboards will be up to date...

Those two arcade cabs that you mention aren´t the easiest to come by, but I promise to keep a look out for them. If I managed to get a hold of them then you would have to visit SWEDEN and MAHSmile

I've already bought my plane ticket Smile also what i think is great about those 2 games besides being awesome is that you cant really get quite those experiences at home - the hydraulic cabinet or the twin joysticks of Robotron (admitedly you can get quite close with the twin analogue sticks but not quite the same)

its ok i will accept one of your many copies of Fatal Fury Special instead lolz (not really obviously one of those is enough for me!)

Early Williams machines are really cool cos they were always really like pinball machines, with all the flashing lights/colours and sound effects. Defender is like that too.

This comming saturday me and "Ulus" (of AT) are going to GOTHENBURG on the Swedish west coast to pick up a SEGA ASTRO CITY cab which I´ve recently bought. Pics of my cab is comming as soon as we have picked it up, this is just a teaser...

The past weekend for me has been a lot about riding around in a car and picking stuff up.

First off "Ulus" and me hit the road early saturday morning, the destination: Gothenburg on the Swedish Westcoast.

I was picking up that SEGA ASTRO CITY cab and a "Red box" (Multigame PCB 450 in 1) that i mentioned earlier. Everything went according to plan and the cab was really clean and in nice condition. The only thing that I was a bit disapointed with, was the wiring of the cab. The wiring has been completely redone by a previous owner but he didn´t organize the wires so this is something that I´ll have to get in order. Other than that everything was as expected - Thumbs Up

"Ulus" anxious to hit the road:

Some scenery along the road, should be a lot of snow this time of year in SWEDEN:

The seller alongside the car used for pickup:

We needed some nutrition after collecting the cab and MC D. was our choice:

Finally back home after a day on the road. This is me testing the cab out, game played; Shinobi

Next off, Sunday me and "Larsson" set off to one of his friends. A guy that owns a lot of pinball games that arent in operation, they are just stored in his home. We (Larsson and me) made a deal with this guy, we can place some of his games in our arcade and in return we promise to polish the games up and repair minor glitches...And ofcorse play the games or as we prefer to say: giving them some exerciseSmile

We had planed to choose KISS and one more, but Kiss proved to be less than complete so we chose HEAVY METAL MELTDOWN and JUNGLE LORD. Both are now playable, but more work is needed if they´re to match the other pinball games at MAH.

Heavy metal meldown is a bit cheesy and the music isn´t that much metal, but I think that the game is quite entertaining. I haven´t played Jungle Lord yet but it looks promising with two playfields...

Some pics from the friend of "Larsson":

So I´ve been a bit slow on updating this thread, but that doesn´t mean that MAH restsWink

A couple of weeks ago we were contacted by a group named "Round Table" (RT). They asked if they could come and visit us and at the same time use our arcade as a place for their weekly meetings. We accepted this and we were invited to join them for dinner and we also attended their meeting for a short while. All in all I think t was a great evening and I think that RT apreciated the visit to MAH as well.

Some pics from the evening:

Most of the guys from RT is visble in this pic:

We´we changed the "line-up" of MAH as well, nothing earthshattering but still...The difference now is that I have moved the EGRET2 and AWSD cab to my apartement. Instead of these I moved another JK and my NEO GEO Fullsize cab to MAH.

Some pics after the move:

The NEO GEO FULLSIZE and the Virtua Fighter cab match each other quite well when it comes to weight and size:

This is what one of the rooms in my apartement looks like right now. Its tight but not too tight:

Great pics as always Priest. Nice to see a video too. Good to see you're keeping the fridge well stocked! Yummy Like I said before I don't post in this thread very often but I'm always
interested to read about any developments in your arcade. So you're keeping the extra Egret II and Atomiswave permanently in your apartment? That's an impressive line-up of candy cabs you've got there. By the way do you ever hook up any of your cabs for a 4 player game? That would be pretty cool. I sometimes think about buying a second cab for 4 player games like D&D, Knights of Valour etc.

RiKo
your arcade is looking awesome Priest - really looking packed out in that pic with the RT people Thumbs Up will you run out of space eventually? in the arcade) best get that Space Harier sit-down now Smile

i like the games room in your apartment too - bit cramped but nice selection of games Wink

Amazing Priest , a fantastic achievement.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I really apreciate themSmile

Merlin: Yea the E2 and the AWSD cab were rarely used in the arcade so I figured I might as well do this trade between the two places. Playing back to back 4 persons is something I have never tryed with my cabs. But it would be cool in the games that you mention like Dungeon and dragons. The main purpose for these 4 cabs though will be having two cabs each ready to play vertical and horizonthal games...Which is niceSmile
...And you should get another cab to join your SEGA cab.

RiKo: Sometime we´ll run out of space, but outside of our arcade we have an entire floor vacant if we would like to expand. And since these Space harrier SD cabs isn´t really that common over here in SWEDEN, I´m really not that worriedWink

...The "cramped" room is just one of my gamesroom in my apartementSmile

This past week I have bought two new "arcade systems" from a guy at http://www.arkadt... (Swedish arcadeforum) for MAH. First up is an ATOMISWAVE motherboard complete with manual, stereo leads and three game cartridges:

...Next up I got a IGS Polly Games Master motherboard, Multiplayer lead (allows to connect two cabs for some 4 player gaming, requires only one motherboard and one copy of the game) and three games. A nice little system which reminds me a lot about NEO GEO carts and motherboard.

Dodonpachi - Beestorm

Awesome acquisition, Priest! Thumbs Up

The Taiwanese cousin of the Neo Geo sure has some excellent games to offer; Martial Masters, Knights of Valour 1&2 or like in this case Demon Front are only a few examples!

I'd really like to play Demon Front one day, as the game still isn't dumped properly. Give us a feedback how good it really is! Thumbs Up

Those are some incredible games you bought Priest. Thumbs Up Congrats. I love all of those. I noticed the amazing 'The Rumble Fish' next to the motherboard. Was that not included? The PGM is a dream system to own if you like beat 'em ups. I'm sure you'll get a lot of enjoyment from it.

That will be really good being able to play those PGM games in 4 player mode. Like I said in my previous post it's something I've thought of but I don't have enough 'offline' friends who are interested in playing these types of games unfortunately. One of my friends came round and played some Demon Front and was pretty unimpressed. Shock

@Murikov People often say Demon Front is inferior to Metal Slug but personally I think it's
equally as good. The artwork is amazing and there are loads of secret areas to discover. I like the different ways you can use your pet in the game. I'll be interested to hear what Priest thinks of the game.

Lavabeast
@Merlin I know what you mean about not having offline friends not really feeling the old Neo Geo/SNK games. Around here if it's not Call of Duty then no one is really interested and it's tragic really :(

Still with all that being said this is something I have always wanted to do is have an actual arcade to jam out some great games even if it's with only one other person (or myself for that matter) Priest it's inspiring to see you putting this together I bet you have a lot of fun around your place hahahahaha! Well done man! Headbang

Actually "The Rumble fish" is included in this package and NOT "Dolphin Blue" as I mentioned earlier, my misstake. Anyway it´ll be great to complete my ATOISWAVE-SD cab with this AW-hardware and software.

I´ll be back with my opinions on the games.

I look forward to trying out all the games especially Dodonpachi but also The Gladiator, since I really love these scrolling beat´em ups. And like Murikov and Merlin already said there are some interesting titles in said genres for these systems.

Merlin: I know that you value your PGM system highly, remind me which games do you own?

Lavabeast: Yea even though my partners in the arcade and I don´t always like the same games, its still great to share an arcade with someone who shares the same interests.
