RiKo: Thanks!

Sorry no MVS yet...Yea that Kattkatt guy finished Outrun on his second try, as you can see from the pics. He has an Outrun 2 car rig (not the arcade) at home so I imagine he gets his skill from thisSmile

Today me and a friend (partner in arcade) of mine will go to NORRKÖPING, SWEDEN and pick up my latest cab.

I´ve bought an TAITO EGRET 2 sitdown cab from another member of a Swedish arcade forum. These are the pictures taken of the cab by the seller, I´ll return with some pics of this cab when I get it home. This will be placed in my flat beside my ATOMISWAVE SD cab.

Acording to the seller there are no burn-ins on the screen and everything else is in perfect working order. The reason I´m getting this is for my vertical games such as KIKI KAYKAY, 1943 and GunSmoke. Perhaps Ill even get a CAVE game for it in the future...

Some pics of it, more will follow...

Judging from the pictures that Egret 2 looks to be in very good condition Priest. Congrats on your purchase. The Egret 2 is a very nice looking cab and one of my favourite cabs along with the Sega Astro City. Pretty handy too that it's got a rotating mechanism if you ever want to play horizontal games on it.

Yet another photo update, this time with the machines running. With KIKI KAYKAY I had some problems at first. The DIP settings made the gamescreen turn upsidedown, but I got that fixed as you can see. Still in 2pl mode the screen is upsidedown and in so called coctailmode (designed for that kind of arcade cabs). I´ll see if theres some way around this problem:

Today we picked up another pinball game for our arcade, Gilligan´s Island by Bally/Williams ´91. Its the first Bally game which incorporated the dot matrix display (DMD), there´s a lot of things going on here during games. There are also alot of speech. The main object is to collect some ingredients which make up the "Lava seltzer" and then feed it to "Kona", the island god.

This Pinball is often critizised for being too easy and not really exciting, I beg to differ and I´m really happy with the latest pinball addition to our arcade. This specific machine is in really good condition...which is goodSmile

One of my friends play Gilligan´s and aparently he´s not happy with his own game today, so that "finger gesture" he´s doing is not meant for the viewerGrin

...So back from a trip to ARVIKA, SWEDEN...

Today we´ve picked up a OPERATON THUNDERBOLT arcade cab from a guy living in ARVIKA. The cab was a big m*****f****r and really heavy, we had to carry this cab 3 floors down from his apartement since the building in which he lived didn´t have an elevatorStress

...But we made it. I took some pictures during the trip, which started with a sturdy breakfast i e some toast, boiled egg, orangejuice and coffee.

We visited some other "arcade collectors" along the way. I got an original NEO GEO AES marquee *for free*!!!! which aparently was used in Swedish shops when the AES was releases and sold in my home country, Thanks "Retrosteff".

I also got a DREAMCAST VGA box *for free*!!!! thanks to "Kattkatt". Thanks to you both for the coffee and the visitThumbs Up

Anyway, here are some pics. I completely missed to take some pics at "Kattkatt"s home, sorry bout that.

Tomorrow, me and a friend of mine is going to pick up another cab for our arcade. This time it´s ATARIs GAUNTLET II, the cab needs some repairs to be fully functional but it shouldn´t be that much work. I´ll post some pics later of the actual cab but in the mean time, this is the type of cab we´re getting:

This arcade is fast becoming a fantastic achievement what a great collection of games I would very much like to spend an evening in it, It could be a viable business I reckon, hire it out for stag parties or birthday parties.

Usually when I see an arcade game in a store, restaurant or another place, someone I go with usually don't want me to go play it. The last arcade games I've seen in reality were Atari's Road Riot 4WD and Williams' Robotron 2084 at a Lupi's Pizza restaurant (which serves some of the best calzone I've ever had). Before I knew about MAME, I once tried to buy an arcade, but my father didn't want me to, because they are expensive and are a waste of time, money and space. My big sister told me that video games are a kids thing, even if adults play them whether they are for everyone or for mature audience.

I enjoy chocolate, especially when it is as dark as 60% or higher. It prevents unhealthy LDL cholesterol, cleans your arteries, kills some pain (but not as much as pain pills), soothes your skin (but not as much as salves and lotions) and has some caffeine (30 bars with caffeine equals as much as a cup of green tea). What does that chocolate have in it? Looks like a kind of bread crumbs called panko. I have tried chocolate filled with panko before, as well as ones with popping candy, orange, chili pepper and others.

I used to have a tabletop ice hockey game like that, but with buttons in the middle of each players' sides that ejects the puck out of the goal. My father bought it for me and my brother when we saw how interesting it looks at a local sports shop. But when I moved from one house to another, I think I either lost it or have it at some place that was brought to by one of my relatives or friends. The puck is most likely gone.

STE C: Thanks and as much as I don´t think its likely to happen, you´re still ofcourse welcome if you are in the "neighbourhood". Yea first and foremost the arcade is for us and our friends to enjoy, sadly there are some strict laws against making money on these kind of machines in SWEDEN and pretty costly to get the permits.

1983Parrothead: I´m sorry but I don´t get the point of your latest post in this thread. If there is a point, please explain...Hmm

All I can say is that you shouldn´t listen so much to what other people think of arcade/video games (thinking about your parents and your sisters opinion). If you feel like playing these games, then for Gods sake do so and enjoy!!!!!

Beautiful...just beautiful an Egret next to an AWSD. I'm not really fond of the Gilligan Pinball (I just don't like the theme), but it's always good to see a Pinball that's found it's way into a loving environment...Pinball and Arcade cabs need love and attention. I would really love to play on all those great cabs you have...I'm quite jealous you know...then again, I have more than most people have, so I shouldn't complain.
Still have to fix my TFTC Pinball...blown a fuse and a pop bumper is dead.

I really like the Gilligan´s Island pinball, it might be because I´m quite new to pinball games so I´m not that hard to impressSmile

Yea you have some fun toys too, still like I told STE C; If you´re ever in the neibourhood...

We went to pick up a Gauntlet II cab today, I´ll post some pics of it in the morning...

The point of the first part of that post of mine is that when I looked at your arcade room, it made me want to tell what I said, because I kind of wish I had an arcade room of my own.

The chocolate and tabletop ice hockey game parts were replies to the related posts.

Anyway, have you ever heard of any of these pinball machines: Double Header, Sacrifice Fly, Screwball and/or Flying Carpet?

priest
1983Parrothead: OK, now I understand what you meant. You´re probably correct about the chocolate, I don´t worry much about eating the other kind of chocolate though and besides I eat both kinds.

About the pinball machines those you mention are all of the older mechanical kind; Double header: A "bingo" pinball. I couldn´t find any match on "Sacrifice fly". Screwball: Not much known about this Genco game. There are 2 versions of "flying carpet". Have you played all of these games?
