NG MVS board V1
Just wondering if anybody knows why the first MVS board inc the 2/4/6 versions had joystick ports in them. Very handy especially if you were using a shitty Raven Games supergun like me until I got my CMVS sorted, as a lot of you know the RG superguns are wired up differently so you have to buy their own horrid pads.

It seems strange considering the units were designed for the arcade and not for home as jamma cabs have their own sticks wired up. Was it so maybe arcade operators could wire the sticks straight into the boards if they wished ( seems unlikely but thats my best shot).

I know the first 1 slot boards are huge compared to the later ones but I still think they look cool and are very console like due to having the joystick ports. Im not sure if we have had a thread yet about the different boards shapes n sizes and preferences amongst fans. Are some more reliable than others and why , what do you guys think about this as I am interested to find out a little more about the different boards. I have the hard mvs page saved which explains the different boards so no need to post that link but he it is if anybody wants to read up on them http://www.hardmv...mpare.htm.

I have also noticed the 2 slot boards seem pretty rare as I have only seen 1 or 2 or ebay the last year, any reason why or do people like to keep them for a reason. The middle size board seems to be by far the most common http://bulk.destr...g-620x.jpg .

was interested on reading up about all this MVS board stuff BUT that HARD MVS link you posted appears to be a dead link!

Got any other bits I can look through?

Also, I think, like you suggested, having a thread dedicated to MVS boards and CMVS' etc is a great idea - especially for info and reference purposes Thumbs Up

Maybe the AES controller ports were for testing the hardware? Shrug

Say the cab stick/buttons were not responding and a tech wanted to see if the problem was internal (something with the PCB inputs) or with the stick or buttons themselves. They could pop in an AES controller and see if it responds. Then... if the AES stick responded... they could write off a controller input problem and focus on the cab stick and button wiring. I know this sounds like bullshit, that's because it IS bullshit and a totally dumb idea. Shoot me. But I really don't have any logical reason why they had AES ports on V1 PCBs.

Lucky for people like me, an MV-1F owner, they had AES ports ready to go. Gotta love Original AES sticks!Cool
