Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter Confirmed!
It's not official yet. E3 is coming in a week.

What's your idea on this?

Wow, didn't see that one coming. But, IMO, SF (in 3-D) isn't worthy enough to go against Tekken. I would kill to see Virtua Fighter vs. Tekken. Seems gimmicky.
nooo i would've liked to see namco vs snk vs capcom vs konami but only the fighting game characters
TEK vs SF?...
Can't wait to see how this one pans out!

It's quite amusing, as me and some friends once speculated how cool it would be for a PROPER Namco vs Capcom Xover... but back then a 2D one. That would have been awesome, with 2D Kazuya, Siegfried etc. Anyway, this will definitely suffice!

Since this will most likely be a Tekkenesque fighting system, I'll probably not really be interested. You know it'll be 3D and probably have a high emphasis on dial-up combos.

Street Fighter X Tekken announced, video and images

Capcom's Yoshinori Ono announced Street Fighter vs. Tekken — a 2 vs. 2 crossover game with 2D gameplay — and showed a trailer for the title. Here are some videos and images from Comic-Con 2010.

Street Fighter vs. Tekken will be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The two teams behind the project started talking about making a game like this a year ago.

Also, Namco will be developing Tekken vs. Street Fighter, a different game with Namco developers heading the project.

Here's the official press release.

SAN DIEGO, CA — July 24, 2010 — Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games today announced that Street Fighter X Tekken is in development for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®. The title will make history as fighters from these two bastions of the fighting genre come together for the very first time.

Utilizing the same technology that powered Street FighterTM IV & Super Street FighterTM IV, TekkenTM characters such as Kazuya Mishima and Nina Williams will make the transition into the Street FighterTM universe having been re-imagined using the much-loved art style of these seminal titles; while retaining their unique characteristics and signature moves as they go head-to-head with classic brawlers from the Street Fighter franchise in what promises to be the ultimate match up.

As in Street Fighter IV, 2D gameplay will feature fully realized 3D character models battling for domination in both new and familiar highly detailed environments that are brought to life with engaging animations. In addition to modes such as Versus and Training that will feature new enhancements to make the fighting experience more in-depth and enjoyable, Street Fighter X Tekken will include Tag Team combat where players select two fighters to deliver knockout assist attacks and special combos.

The announcement, which took place at Comic-Con in San Diego in front of thousands of Street Fighter fans, was made by the Producer of Street Fighter X Tekken, Yoshinori Ono, and Tekken series Director, Katsuhiro Harada. Commenting on the origins of this project Yoshinori Ono said: “This is history we're making. Two fighting games that have rivalled each other are finally standing on the same stage. This isn't just a showdown between Tekken and Street Fighter, but a decisive battle for Capcom and Namco Bandai Games. So I'm going to give it my all.”

It's like putting the exact opposite of chocolate and peanut butter together.
Whatever that is...
With that said, its interesting and since their are 2 games SF vs Tekken and Tekken vs SF one of the games will play in some form or fashion that people will like , so I'll be curious to follow this.
I wish that dude in the video would've STFU, I can't hear jack sh*t. Angry

uhmm the new street fighter style is lame so i will be sticking with the tekken vs sf and i will only choose tekken characters hahaha
I think the mixed style looks pretty decent:

In all honesty if you asked me before seeing the trailer, as excited as I would have been I wouldn't have imagined how putting two games so different from each other together would work out... but from that little preview it actually seems to. I must admit to having a slight (read: big) nerdgasm from watching that video! Grin

I will have an even bigger one if they ever announce Capcom vs SNK 3 though... Grin

i missed this thread before. that does look good! i love both Tekken and SF Smile

i always wish i could get as excited as the people cheering in the background though haha. i dont think i have ever cheered at a game preview

Maybe I've been out of the loop for too long, but this does, indeed, play like a Capcom fighter, and not a true 3-D fighter.
Even though I'm not really a fan of Tekken. This looks like a decent game. Nice graphics and all. And it does seem to be a pretty good combination of fighters. So I'll probably get it when I get the chance.

Would of been better if it was Virtua Fighter instead of Tekken, because Virtua Fighter and Street Fighter are founders.

Now if we´re to talk about founders then YIE AR KUNG FU should be mentioned as a "real" founder.

YIE AR KUNG FU is the REAL founder dont mess with it
If it was Street Fighter X Virtua Fighter, it would of been like this:

I thought Yie Ar Kung-Fu was the prototype for modern fighting games, while SFII was the first modern fighting game. For the genre, that would be Vectorbeam's Warrior. Heavyweight Champ doesn't count, because it's boxing. For the first successful fighting game, that would be Karate Champ.

Parrothead: This is maybe a discussion best held out and away from this thread but...

Up until Yie Ar Kung fu the way to differate caracters in on on one beat´em ups was to use different colors of their GIs. Yie Ar Kung fu was the first caracter based beat´em up and have more resemblance to Street fighter than to Karate champ.

Well at least you edited your post from calling Yie Ar Kung fu a "prototype", thats atleast something I guess.

First TvC, then MvC3 and now SF X Tekken and Tekken X SF. Capcom sure is gaining interest in crossovers. The least known Capcom crossover would probably be Taisen Net Gimmick: Capcom & Psikyo All*Stars Mahjong for the Sega Dreamcast.

Yes, but Yie Ar Kung-Fu was influenced by Karate Champ's success and popularity back then. Here is a thread to discuss about it at:
