Enjoy Smile i am planning on getting Blazblue soon. I like Guilty Gear X, i hope its as good Smile its interesting they said that SSFIV was originally planned as downoadable content, but it was too big.

Thanks for scanning those RiKo. It's always nice to see some reviews. Yes you should definitely get BlazBlue it's one of the best of the current generation of fighter and as a Guilty Gear fan you will enjoy it.

I enjoyed reading the reviews and was particularly interested to see the review of Sen but I did think the first paragraph was a bit strange:

This is easily the best 3D iteration of SNK's flagship swordplay series to date, eclipsing the efforts on the N64 and, before then, on SNK's very own Neo Geo CD format.

The reviewer was clearly on drugs when he wrote that opening paragraph! It's always disappointing to learn that the PPL who review games today ,in actual fact, don't know SHIT about games. If you know nothing - then say nothing...

He must've read or heard that there was a 3D SS game series called SS64 - put 2+2 together and *hey presto* an epic fail sentence! Easy mistake to make but, c'mon, not a video games critic/reviewer! Pfft...

i didnt notice that, i just assumed he meant the Neo 64 thing, but yes he prob did mean N64. lol. what did you guys think of the reviews? did you agree/disagree with them?

i only played SSFIV, which i love and is awesome, so i agree with that, also like they say a pretty amazing price. i do want to get Blaz Blue sometime as well. i was never going to bother with Sen, all those SNK 3D games are pretty much crap for some reason, maybe they dont have the budget. ( i noticed the other reviewer really didnt like Sen)

I think it's fair to say SSS got a panning by that review, unfortunately that's no real surprise

I'm with Ninja on this one, this is yet more proof reviewers don't know anything about the games they review. Also that they ESPECIALLY don't know anything about fighting games.

Especially LOL at calling the BB characters "beautifully balanced." And not writing ANYTHING about Sen's fighting system other then "well, I don't know anything about these games, so I'm guessing its perfect."

Thanks for scanning them Riko I would usually buy retrogamer if it has stuff of interest in such as the reviews you scanned. I really like retrogamer but i dont buy it everytime as its some times a hit n miss affair, I guess thats due to having content of interest but is nice to see former CV+G editor Paul Davis on board as mid to late 90s the magazine was brilliant when he was boss
Then in about 99 it really went downhill by constantly jumping on the Pokemon bandwagon and marketing the magazine towards pre teens. I real shame as they used to often review NG stuff and seemend very fond of SNK.

thats ok, its good to hear everyones opinions, and i like to scan things in that i think are of interest when i get time Smile

i think you guys are prob right about them not being hardcore fighter experts but i have spoken to Darren (one of the reviewers in the above article) on the phone in the past and i know he did own a Neo Geo, along with Sam Shodown and many other games. also they have also had (and still have) a MVS in the office with MOTW and many other games so they are not totally ignorant. as well as that they did also have a SFIV cabinet in the office too on loan. i have been promised a MOTW making of feature, if they can get an interview. i cant comment on any of the reviews apart from SSFIV not having played the other games but i would give it 93%. not quite as generous Smile

Thanks for the scans! Thumbs Up

Was interesting to read, but unfortunately as much as I don't mind reading a review from someone who might not be the most knowledgeable about a certain series, I just think if you are gonna do a review you should at least research your facts a little. The guy who wrote the 2nd opinion column on SSS sounds as if he should have written the main review to be honest...
