Carl Macek has died
I was on Facebook a few minutes ago, and I read Richard Epcar's status message, and he said that Carl Macek has passed away. Carl is responsible for bringing us Robotech, and he was also the co-founder of Streamline Pictures, which produced english dubs of animes such as Vampire Hunter D, Fist of the North Star, Golgo 13:The Professional, The Lensman, The Dirty Pair:Affair on Nolandia, The Dirty PairPfftroject Eden, The Dirty Pair:Flight 005 Conspiracy, and others. I guess my dreams of getting to meet him at a con or something are ruined now. I'm so overwhelmed with sadness. I worshipped that man. He was one of my idols! I'll never forget him and the great things he did for the anime industry. R.I.P. Carl!
Master Tasuke
Amen to that.

ROBOTECH was my first introduction to Anime as well.

i just fell in love with the VF-1 "Valkyrie" (VERITECH) Fighter,
and picked up my first model, a 1/100 GERWALK (GUARDIAN)
mode VF-1J Hikaru Ichijo (Rick Hunter) T.V. version.

from there, i blossomed out into MACROSS II and PLUS,
and also into non-MACROSS/ROBOTECH series such as PATLABOR.

while i very much enjoy much of the "Cutesy-Sweet" Anime
of the 21st century; (Ai Yori Aoshi, Steel Angel Kurumi, Etc.)
i will always be a consumate MECHA fan, and the VF-1 my
favorite MECHA of them all.

thank you, Carl, for everything you did.
this is for you, Rest In Peace...
That's unfortunate. I never really saw Robotech myself but I do have that mech in Tasuke's picture. I really need to get around to watching it sometime.
