This evening, after the chat had wound down, Angie and I decided to get on and play Psycho Soldier. Unfortunately, that didn't go well. It may have been the server, the game or our IPs — or a combination of these — but we kept DC'ing. We ended up doing Sexy Parodius on the East Wonderland server. Just for future reference, that server seems to be more stable for me — what do you think Angie? The ending is crazy, and a bit anti-climactic, as Angie pointed out. I didn't expect anything less from this zany series though. Anyway, here is the result of our session: YouTube Video
We did way better than I expected; we actually finished most of the missions successfully. In the past, I've done it with another Kaillera regular, and we were pretty bad (we didn't successfully complete a single item collecting mission)! The last stage is easy to beat if you intentionally die, and collect the bell that makes you a giant to destroy the barriers.
I'm still dabbing in emulation a bit. did so much online play in 2006, 7,8 and 9 that I needed a change but I still don't mind going back to some of it. I got skype and msn if you need to set some games up that way for communication. But mostly I'll be on youtube so you can message me there or here if you guys are up for some co op
Ha! To say you've done "so much" is an understatement! You are the king of Kaillera netplay man... Anyway, I'd be happy to arrange something with you in the future. I'm 1st Super Tobalman on YT. You ever done The Crystal of Kings?

I agree that EW seems to be quite a bit more stable. It would be cool if we could play on it more regularly.

Another good session was had on Sat. night: more 4P Gauntlet, Two Crude & Double Dynamite (2P Dynamite Duke ver.). Everyone is welcomed to join in on the Kaillera fun every Fri. & Sat. nights 7 PM EST on the West Wonderland server.
Trivia: does anybody know any other games besides Bad Dudes, Two Crude & Dynamite Duke where a Duke Nukem-esque character appeared? The clean cut but tough, "early 90s" style white guy seemed to be a reaccuring theme, although may just be satire of the day (typical American soldier of the Gulf War)...
Ha! After thinking about it for some time, I came up with a couple more instances the Duke has spiritual presence in: Bad Street Brawler and Captain Planet, both NES games. BSB is a horrible Bad Dudes clone by Mattel, but the main character looks exactly like Duke! Although not a visual match, there is a character named Duke Nukem in the latter game; however, even though he looks like a golem, he still has that clean cut, American G.I. Look. Hmm, interesting!
It wasn't a very eventful evening, but I did have the opportunity to get my N-G stick out and play some Gauntlet with regular Jaku. We're in dungeon seventy.

Forgot about this place.. ya sure. We'll see what we can play. Never got tCoK to work right on mame ++. Or maybe I just gave up too soon with so much stuff on my plate X_X. We'll see.
I'll message you on the 'tube
Earlier tonight, I have a pretty darn good session with West Wonderland regular Jaku: Golden Axe II (GEN). We got all the way to the last boss and then lost, but we actually restarted with a cheat (eight credits). We used about half of them to finish it the second time. It's amazing how closely this plays like an arcade game. It really does feel like the sequel to the original. I recorded the entire session and will be available on you YT channel in a couple days... I highly recommend it to anyone into GA, if they haven't tried it already.
On Sat. I had a grueling session of Gain Ground. Man, that game is a b*tch! We got about halfway through, then decided to call it a night.
Australian members will probably never be able to play with us because of the distance from the servers used, for example, West Wonderland. Vexan, Stray and that other young dude (can't think of his name off hand) are M.I.A. Boogiepop had expressed interest in joining our sessions, but he's left the site for the time being. I got Ninja setup last year, but he says the emulation is too hard to understand(?). Off the the top of my head, I can't think of anyone else who has expressed interest in netplaying on Kaillera. But with what has been said, those interested are welcomed to join in the fun.
Lately I've been using Kega/Fusion (P2P) rather than going on West Wonderland Kaillera. However, on Thurs., I did Gain Ground with Jaku. On Fri. I had the pleasure of doing Stone Ball with some of the regulars, including Merlin. SB reminds me of Pigskin 621 A.D. In fact, it's basically just an updated version of it (nothing wrong with that). I like the sluggish controls; in almost any other context it would be a bad mark on the game. Here, though, part of the fun is scrambling to get the ball, just as everyone else is, partly due to the sluggish controls. I was using a pad, but now I see a joystick is essential (for accuracy). I'd be up for more SB in the future. We still have to do Trog too!
This morning, I couldn't sleep, I got up, and had an inclination to get on WW. Fortunately, a regular was there. I informed another regular to join us, and we played through Gain Ground. The game has a high learning curve, but once you figure it out, it actually is enjoyable. We also did Double Dragon 3 and Warriors of Fate.

Nice to see a good turnout on Friday night with quite a few of the regulars there. I agree Tobal Stone Ball was a lot of fun. Very amusing game. We should do that again sometime.
Me and Hiro did a playthrough of Knights of the Round which was great.
I used to always enjoy it when we did a 4 player game on Sundays during the chat session with other NGFL members. It's disappointing that it came to an end. Anyone else here interested in a 4 player game on Sundays? If you've never used Kaillera before and need any advice I'd be happy to help.
I just wanted to mention that at the Daraku Tenshi forum we're currently organizing our second online tournament. I was just wondering if anyone here would be interested in taking part. Everyone is very welcome it doesn't matter if you're an inexperienced player. The tournament sign up thread is now active and registration closes at noon this Friday. Check out the thread for full details about the event.
I'm expecting at least 10 people to take part. If you're a Daraku fan you won't want to miss this. There's a prize of an original Daraku Tenshi soundtrack CD. if you're interested in taking part please either post in the sign up thread or let me know. We'll be mainly using MAMEHub for the event but Kaillera can be used as an alternative too.
Hopefully we can play something again soon Tobal and at some point I would like to give Kega a try with you. Although not quite finished yet the Daraku tournament is going well. 12 people entered which was more than I expected. I was eliminated in round 2 which wasn't a big surprise to me considering how skilled the other players are.
Had a good Kaillera session on Friday night. We did 4 player Revenge of Death Adder yet again (never gets boring) and I enjoyed doing Gundhara and Gaia Crusaders too. That was the first time I had played through Gaia Crusaders and was quite impressed with it. For anyone not familiar with the game it was developed by Noise Factory and is the forerunner to Sengoku 3. The combo system is similar. I like the charcters especially Kohen. Overall the game is not quite as good as Sengoku 3 but still well worth a look.
Anyone here tried ArcLive? I'm registered there as 'Drokmar'. The only problem is 99% of players are Chinese which means for me it would be a bit laggy considering the distance. I have spotted a few US and European players though. ArcLive now supports games with up to 4 players at the same time.
Sounds good merlin. I'd still like to do Trog soon too. I'm starting to use 0.64 more often now, simply because it's the version of choice at West Wonderland, but I'll still play with you on .119. See you tomm hopefully!
I can understand that. Sometimes it's hard to find people to play with on 119. Trog seems like it would be pretty fun with 4 people. I'd definitely like to give that go. See you tonight hopefully!
Is it just me or has Coolroms.com declined in consistency of games offered and server reliability? It seems like a lot more games have been "censored" as of recent. Other times, I have trouble simply connecting to the site. That site is on the very edge of becoming my second choice for ROM acquisition for Kaillera netplay. Anyone else have similar experiences recently?
