Pirates of the Caribbean, 2012, Avatar? Really?? Even a non-movie fan like myself must question some of those decisions... Smile

Shiny
In no particular order...

Fight Club
Ghost Busters
Jaws
Empire Strikes Back
The Big Lebowski
The Castle of Cagliostro
Blade Runner
Alien
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Pulp Fiction

Others probably, I'm drunk this evening. Shawshank, Trainspotting, Cuckoo's Nest, Deer Hunter, Great Escape, Full Metal Jacket, In Bruges... I fear picking ten may be impossible.

Not much of a movie fan, but I love Friday (lol stoner movie), Rush Hour (all three and pretty much anything with Jackie Chan lol), Nothing to Lose, Wayne's World, Bill And Ted, Sin City, Donnie Darko, Wristcutters and probably some others I can't think of right now.

I like the mention of Friday Midian, me and my friend used to love that film, sometimes for the wrong reasons though. i like the bit where he takes a crap in his neighbour's front garden. I like that you put Empire Strikes Back in yours Shiny thats my Fav Star Wars film and def the best! my 2nd fav one is Phantom Menace but no one ever agress with me on that.

Tobalman - i would def put Avatar 3D in my top 10. I can see it not being good in a few years time though. I really enjoyed it, depsite thinking it was going to be crap before i went. i only went cos (literally) everyone told me to go and see it. Thats never happened before with a film in my lifetime. i heard some people say the story isnt that great, but i didnt get that at all, maybe if i had stopped to anlayse it. you can pick on certain things if u want to, but i didnt want to. i think people are just being cynical about it. i know people who have gone back to see it again - normal sane people Smile

Here's mine. Some of these films arent so good now. Like i thought the first Matrix film was amazing at the time, but i watched it about a month ago and it didnt seem as good. Also Aliens - isnt so good now. the acting in particular between the space marines is terrible. Its still ok though. def good when i was a teenager though, and a very influential film (Halo)

In no. particular order. and a bit more than 10

Old Boy
Le Dinner de Cons (very funny)
Matrix
Gladiator
The Big Lebowski
Phone Booth
Fear And Loathin in Las Vegas
Avatar 3D
All About My Mother
Donnie Darko
Aliens
Terminator
Girl Interrupted
Go
Shallow Grave

I only realy like to watch films once, i dont get how films can work on multiple plays. I do watch really good films again maybe a few years later but that's it. when you know whats going to happen its just not the same.

Good topic Bojan Thumbs Up

ok i do love a good film but my taste is very wide and some of the films you will never have heard of.... some are artsy kind of films some are balls in the bag famous classics.....

1. Batman (1989)
2. Nosferatu (1922)
3. The Terminator
4. The Shining
5. Psycho (1960)
6. Tetsuo the Iron Man
7. Robocop
8. Eraserhead
9. The Tenant
10. Dead Leaves

some of the films i do love that didn't make the top ten:

American werewolf in London
Rosemary's baby
A Touch of Evil

My choice for 10 top movies will always vary, because my favourites may be superseded by anything better movies have to offer in future. Doesn't stop me from continuing to enjoy them though, but here goes my current list (in alphabetical order):

Avatar 3D
Be Kind Rewind
Catwoman
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Men In Black 1
Resident Evil: Degeneration
The Black Scorpion (1957 film)
The Mummy
Willow
Wrongfully Accused

And speaking of complete collection, I managed to procure all nine dvd seasons of "Allo! Allo!".Wink

Hearing Powerwave about Pyscho reminded me that American Psycho was an awesome movie too.

Some interesting choices there Powerwave. I've got to admit a couple of those I've not heard of before. I've still not seen the original Nosferatu film but one of these days I will. Don't know if you noticed I mentioned the 1979 remake of that film in another thread. I was just wondering if you had seen that before?

I saw Tetsuo the Iron Man once and it's a pretty unusual and bizarre film that kind of stuck in my memory. Not sure how much I actually like it but I'd recommend people to give it a try at least.

My favourite film:

Bullet in the Head
Hong Kong director John Woo's greatest work in my opinion although for some reason it did badly at the Hong Kong box office. This epic film follows the fortunes of three young men who are close friends living in Hong Kong. Events force them to leave the city and they go to Saigon to seek their fortune and get caught up in the turmoil of the Vietnam war. Although the film has many superb action scenes this is not some mindless action film. With a gripping story, superb cast and a memorable soundtrack I can't recommend this film enough.

The other 9 favourite films in no particular order:

Full Contact
The Killer
Scarface
Once upon a time in America
The English Patient
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Aguirre Wrath of God
The Wicker Man (the original one!!!)
Human Traffic

midian: shiiiittt i forgot about american psycho thats a huge favourite of mine it should even be in my top 10, i like that film so much i named a pet rat patrick bateman.....and im not joking either..... i also had another rat called john conner (the leader of the human resistance in terminator) they were both brothers and great rats Smile

merlin: nosferatu is timeless if you want to watch it i suggest buying the dvd with the soundtrack by art zoyd, its ever so creepy when watched in sepia with that soundtrack.

yeah i remember you mentioning the 70's remake somewhere. i have that on dvd too its realy good and very gothic, klaus kinski is a real good graf orlock (dracula). however for me its the original everytime

wow a person whos seen tetsuo, its hard to find people who've seen it. dont worry mate most people have a hard time watching it its very shakky and fast. i think though that it should be one of those films to see before you die. because even if you dont like it its definately something u will remember Smile

also guys i do love pulp fiction thats another fave of mine.

"Handsome punch-bags never loose battles"
- powerwave the punch bag (bonus kun's lame brother)

I liked American Psycho film, but i read the book first and i prefered that. The film is good too though. I like that bit when hes watching himself in the miror having sex, and he flexes his biceps haha such a poser.

Same with the Fight Club, the book is amazing for that, but i didnt like the film so much. Fear and Loathin in Las Vegas really works as a film cos its like its a copy of the book with all the madness included.

I quite liked that My Neigbour Totoro (Japanese Animation) film from Gibli Studio (sorry i never take much notice of names so might get that wrong ). that guy who did Spirited Away, which is also quite good.
