While the online problem seems to be getting fixed, the USB trouble still seems to be present. I once wrote an e-mail to Atlus concerning this problem and yesterday I finally got an answer:
Rob Stone, QA Lead Atlus, wrote via e-mail:
Thanks for giving us the results of that work-around trial (editor's note: That 'Scott Pilgrim' USB slot trick mentioned earlier and spreading through certain forums). It is most unfortunate that it didn't work out.
As for details on the reasons behind why KOFXIII isn't recognizing these USB controllers... well, I'm not an SNKP programmer, so I can't disclose the technical reasons behind it. And Sony policies are confidential, so I would get in big trouble if I disclosed the specifics behind that angle. However, I can state with a relative amount of certainty that this wasn't some arbitrary decision, if that's any consolation.
So what was it then?

I'm seeing a lot of complaints about using specific controllers for ps3, but I think its kinda crazy to expect them to patch or care about someone wanting to use a ps2 controller. Does anyone honestly think they should support controllers for a machine that came out at the start of the 2000's?
Sure, my custom hori real arcade pro for ps2 doesn't work, but I'm not really worried about it, I would have been pleased if it worked, but not surprised it doesn't.
First of all congrats on getting this jewel, I'm loving it as well so far!
As for that malfunction, the problem doesn't only affect PS2 Controllers which are normally plugged in via Adapter, particularly it involves all USB controllers originally manufactured for use on the PS3, just these with no home / PSN button. The party pooper this time is exactly that ridiculous Home Button, and that's what makes many players upset, considering that their 3rd party USB controller worked flawlessy with KoF12 and all other fighting games.
@neros:
You mentioned earlier that Bigben converter which didn't work at all with your controller. Was it coincidentally one of the following two? And does it have a Home button?
How can anyone know they worked with KOFXII when nobody bought let alone played the game? lololol
Wait... what am I talking about... KOFXII? That game doesn't even exist.
There was a KOFXI on PS2, then KOFXIII came out for the PS3 just last month, and it's the first KOF game on next generation consoles!

Got the 4CD soundtrack today!
After Amazon France delayed my order because of lack of copies,
I thought for sure I would only get the regular edition.
Now I'll just have to wait for the game itself...

Yes it was the one from you're first link the PS3 - USB-Hub & Controller Converter, and it has a home button. I really can't get it to work with any of my Real Hori Arcade Pro stick II (PS2) or my Namco stick (PS1). They work with every other fighting game I have for my PS3 !

Damn! I first wanted to get that one too, but your report convinced me to leave it alone (now I'm quite sure it wouldn't work with my Neo Geo Stick 2 as well). Thanks for telling us, dude!
I still will be waiting for the officially announced patch, but otherwise it seems I need to sell my old Neo Geo Stick 2 only to get the newer version with a home button on it... It's ridiculous!
However, I'm still enjoying this game with my other stick and I 'm really loving it so far!
Got my copy of the game a few weeks ago. I was lucky enough to find a seller on ebay that had the American release with the soundtrack collection included. Loving the game so far. It's kind of surreal playing all of these characters with their old moves from over a decade ago but with the updated look. This weekend I'll finally have a decent amount of free time and try to write a review for the game. I can't even remember when was the last time I've done that.
Apparently there was a technical error and NESTS Kyo's release on the PS3 is getting delayed to January 10th. He'll still be available tomorrow on the 360 version. The PS3 version will be discounted when it is released to help compensate for the delay, which is pretty cool of them.

Hey Yuki, welcome on board(s)! We appreciate very much any NGFL newcomers!
I've read that interview with Kei Yamamoto as well, it was released in the official Playstation Blog, right here. He mentioned that the development team is right now in the concept stage for the next SNKP game.
If you want so, you can present yourself in the New Members Arrival section and tell us, which Neo Geo games you like most, etc.
I have been pretty busy enjoying this game and just completed my 110th win from 226 games , won 15 out of 17 ranked matches today too so its been a good day.
yesterday however was crap where I won only 2 of 18 matches, but its today that counts
Although I'm not exactly a friend of DLCs, I bought myself today Classic Iori. I surely will make an exception for KoFXIII...

To be off-topic: Quite hard to say, I think they'll stick to traditional 2D fighting games for sure. Probably we can expect a new Samurai Shodown (which always was a very popular series next to KoF), but keep in mind these 2D HD sprites take eacha whole year and 4 months to produce, so it's painstaking to begin developing a game with 20+ completely new character sprites. SNKP might therefore build on the sprites they've produced so far, so KoFXIV might be a plausible possibility as well.
