King of Fighters XIII
Hey, just wanted to say that I've played KOF XIII at Arcade Infinity, and its awesome, shame I can't beat it, because Saiki's a bitch to beat, even with the sweep tatic. Anyways, I've only come to this arcade for one last time before it officially closes down, its a shame really, the arcade scene is really dying out now.

The console port is not looking too well, unfortunately, As an employee at SNK-Playmore tweets about bad conditions in the workplace. It also explains the bad netcode in KOF XII. Its seriously not looking good... ><

Anything that could place a console release of KOF13 in jeopardy is really unfortunate. I feel bad for the artists and programmers, if the working conditions are sub par,no one should have to sleep on the floor to finish a game.

I really hope that this is just one employee who is blowing things out bigger than they really are. My hope is that KOF13 is the game that helps pull SNKP back into a comfortable place where they can be diverse and creative again.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
"I read these stories about mistreated game programmers and I always take them with a grain of salt. I work in the game industry and let me outline the scenario for you I see on every project.

Producer: "How long will this take?"
Me: "6 months"
Other programmer: "You don't know what you are talking about! It will take 2 weeks!
Me: "Here is a mountain of evidence why it will not get done in 2 weeks and probably not even in 6 months."
Other programmer: "Well, I can get it done."

3 months later it's still not done. Programmer who wanted to look good has us all working late because we are "months behind."

Programmer hubris + producers not calling them on their bs = crunch."

A listing for King of Fighters XIII... FINALLY!!!
Very promising news, Bullet! Hopefully there's an official announcement sometime soon. Preferably with a release date, or at least a rough time frame.
I trust Play Asia and have been dealing with them for years and they have listings for all versions and a publisher. It's also listed as announced with preorders opening soon, which typically in my experience, means the game is 2 or 4 months away.

It doesn't seem like SNK.P has any plans with XIII at the moment.
They do however frequently upload NG-Station related vids to their youtube,
so maybe that'll get updated soon.
Something I don't understand is why SNKP even bothered doing an arcade version of this game. Why couldn't they just release this directly on the home systems?
I thought they sort of wanted to draw out the location tests to get the game further balanced before console release.
Game's now updated and still nothing...

just so we can know the game isn't forgotten.
that Ignition are no longer handling SNKP's console ports.

I actually PHYSICALLY rang them up a couple of years ago and had a conversation with one of the marketing guys there. I was enquiring about the distinct LACK of a UK release of KOF 98UM and SSanthology.

The response I received basically indicated a big lack of interest in such games, especially in UK/EUR gaming territories. As such, it wasn't profitable to release these kind of games here in 'the West'. In the situation of 98UM & SSA, it was deemed 'best' to only release a limited number to Europe as a whole, oddly cutting out the UK in doing so (although localised for the UK!).

I took the opportunity to thank 'them' for (up until that point) for bringing games to PAL territories I NEVER thought would receive such releases. However, upon mentioning certain titles the guy actually laughed and expressed that specific games were REALLY not worth the effort or money (in terms of financial viability). It was pretty telling unfortunately.

I have no idea who'll be picking up KOFXIII down the line, but regardless of how great (I believe!) it will be, there's no doubt about how much risk and LACK of financial reward there will be in opting to publish the game. And these 'indy' publishers KNOW it...

After the way Ignition dropped Samurai Shodown Sen at the last minute I wouldn't be surprised if SNKP didn't want to work with them anymore. Say what you will about the game, but it still kinda seemed like a dick move to me.

With how long we've waited for this announcement alone,
that doesn't seem all that long at all.

"Today SNKPlaymore has a simple strategy. Their goal is not to replace SFIV or other big titles like that. They have their own niche market, and within that niche, their own niche of fans. They want to focus on these fighting games players; focus on the hardcore. In Japan, when you tell people you play KOF, you might as well tell them you’re mentally disturbed. SNKP want to keep that type of niche fanbase while attracting more of the mainstream without trying to dethrone SFIV because they know KOF just won’t appeal to that mass audience."

My heart just skipped a beat reading this statement.
