Left 4 Dead on Spectrum :)
I thought this was good from Retro Gamer Magazine. It's Left 4 Dead made into a Spectrum game. There was a good Halo one too a while back

I am scanning at the moment, will try and find article that mentions NG4L...

Gauntlet with zombies, sounds like funThumbs Up

Used with the kind permission from their creator "Shiny"
haha yes Smile This is what Powerdrift looks like on the Spectrum. This is actually quite impressive tho considering the Spectrum has no hardware support at all for drawing graphics (no sprites) - everything is done by by its weedy CPU. (watch it struggle to rotate the vector logo)

I really like it when overpowered coin-ops are converted to under-powered machines (I genuinely mean that)

Although I am a speccy fan I have never played Powerdrift on it but I am actually shocked by how good it looks. It appears to have caught the graphics and feel of the arcade game rather well, I recall Enduro Racer and Afterburner were pretty good efforts on the speccy too.

As for high powered coin op conversions on underpowered machines yeah bring it on its always either a good laugh or a pleasant surprise. I recall playing these Sega games in arcades in the 80s then saying to my friends after wards wow what a game hope it comes out on speecy, obviously oblivious to the fact that the speccy had no chance of replicating what we had just played. I suppose thats what you call the innocence of youth.
That's pretty cool RiKo. Would be nice if someone actually made it. This reminds me of the Left 4 Dead game which is being made for PC but with Nes style graphics and sound.

I used to play quite a few Speccy games ages ago. Spy Hunter was always my favourite one. My friends and I used to play it after school and we were really hooked on it. I never tried Powerdrift though but it looks like they made a reasonably good job of it despite the Spectrum's limitations.

Something I find interesting about the Spectrum are all the Eastern European clones that were made. There are loads of them including one called the Scorpion. Supposedly some of them were actually better than the original Spectrums. Some could even be connected to a hard drive!

Haha Merlin the NES style game is good, the zombies could be a bit more psycho tho! is there a car alarm in there? i couldn't see one. I think i read not too long ago about a GTA game for the NES that was being made.

I used to go round my friends house just to play on Spy Hunter and Jet Set Willy 2 on his Spectrum. I always remember being obssesed with going down the route in Spy Hunter where u change into a boat. It always seemed really hard not to crash. Everyone always votes R-Type as being the best Speccy aracde conversion. Later when i got a Spectrum myself I borrowed Outrun off a friend and it had the arcade music on a cassette tape and u had to play it while you were playing. haha

Never knew they were making a GTA game for the Nes RiKo. Will be very interesting to see how that turns out. Could be quite funny. The Nes style Left 4 Dead game looks very good it's a shame it's a PC game rather than an actual Nes game though.

Yeah I always wanted to change into the boat too in Spy Hunter but that bit you have to go down is so narrow I used to crash quite a bit. The helicopter used to always give me problems too. Manic Miner was another Speccy classic I used to play a lot. Never tried Outrun but that's funny that they put the soundtrack on a separate cassette.
NES game looks pretty neat. I'll have to give that a try later.
