Name That Screen Shot Game
NeoGeoNinja
*Ahem* I wouldn't have recognised it right off the bat, however, I will say that I have played BR2 before.

A friend of mine couldn't believe his eyes when this games existence made itself apparent to him (years ago), so he told us about it in a conversation of disbelief and agreed to download it for us all to see what it was about.

It's pretty much as you'd suspect.

Have a 1-on-1 vs battle with scantily clad, wide-eyed Japanese ladies, win the battle and then involve yourself in some soft-core videogame porn which isn't exactly what you'd call "rape".

Should've just been entitled BattlePorn 2, but then, that wouldn't have been AS outrageous, would it?

Ironically, from memory, it actually wasn't the worst 3D fighter ever, either. I think it was reasonable. Bit of a waste really, but then again, it would never have made it (minus the porn!!!) as a 3D fighter contender in todays rather strict fighting game market...

Never heard of or seen any of those before Ninja. With them being 3DO and Jaguar games I guess it's not so surprising no-one recognized them.

I suppose, that's the point though, eh?

Ironically, a guy I know from another forum who lurks here from time to time... he PM'd me on the other forum and gave me 3 of 4 correct answers! Cool

Perhaps BR2 isn't quite as bad as I imagined then judging from your description Ninja! I think I'll still give it a miss though. Can't really see the attraction of the sexual content. I don't find it offensive, it's just very silly.

SGFX might have recognized those 3DO screenshots you posted since he does have a large 3DO collection.

Always worth reviving this thread every so often.

3. Aggressors of Dark Kombat / GanGan - Neo Geo

4. Blade Master / Cross Blades - Arcade

I really like Blade Master. Quite a hard game though.

cthulhu
2. Eliminate Down on the Megadrive.

Well done Cthuhu and Merlin. All Correct so far! Terry

Anyone know the remaining game?

i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr45/RimShot69/Tscr1_zpsaa3q1byf.jpg

Clue : It's quite a well known (these days) Japan-only SNES game.

I haven't played it that deeply beyond a few plays in MAME. It seems pretty solid but I wish your character had more moves. Beat em ups by their nature can get repetitive, so I feel more moves and ways of expressing yourself in the game make them more interesting. Great graphics though!

Found it! It's Majyuuou for the Super Famicom. Never heard of it, but it looks really nice.

Well done Cthulhu, great detective work! Thumbs Up I've heard some people call it the SNES's Altered Beast but it's not that similar really - only that you transform into different creatures.

Here's some more. Game title and format required

Yes the graphics are very nice in Blade Master. I see what you mean about the lack of moves but you do at least have that fireball move when you strike the ground with your weapon. The King of Dragons shows that beat 'em ups with few moves can still be great. Considering the fantasy setting it seems a bit silly to me that the characters in Blade Master are called Roy and Arnold.

2. Sengoku 3 - Neo Geo

4. Mega Man: The Power Battle - CP System

godzilla43
4. Rockman Battle & Fighters NGP

3. Battle Squadron

I first was thinking of Xenon 2, but I had to look closer. The pixel art and sprites somehow cry for Amiga. Wink

I knew almost for certain that it was an Amiga game and I had that game in the past, but I couldn't remember which one.

Well done on Sengoku 3 Merlin! I always crop the Neo Geo screenshots to make them harder. Never works... You were close on Megaman - but wrong game. Worth a guess though.

I still have yet to play King of Dragons. Roy and Arnold sound like characters from Different Strokes.

Yes, well done Murikov! Last month, I found my original copy of Battle Squadron in a box of Amiga games that I forgot about (I sold the system and rest of the games a few years back). A lot of people really love Battle Squadron but I never liked it that much. Overall it feels a bit slow and samey to me, and the bosses are quite small and not very spectacular. From a technical point of view it's excellent (Good graphics, nice and smooth etc). I used to love Xenon II and the way all the pickups sat in a line next to your ship

Anyone know this.

I was gonna jump you for that one, but godzilla came here first (GJ BTW). You must try Battle & Fighters, sooo good (it arguably beats some of the SNK fighters on NGPC), especially when played on a back-lit screen!

PS No Riko, can't figure out # 1. Was it released in the US?

It was exclusive to Europe. I didn't actually know until I Googled just now. Thought it was a fairly well-known title.

Can't believe I got the Mega Man one wrong especially since I own the arcade game! I should give Rockman Battle & Fighters a try sometime Shion. Have only played a few Neo Geo Pocket games and only on an emulator.

RiKo
I've never played a NGPC either. I love the design but I wish there was a greater variety of games available for it. I might get one, one day though.

That box art above is soo funny, good answer reveal Riko!

And I agree with you about the lack of variety for NGPC. I got a NGPC (the poor man's Neo Geo) in Dec. '99, and all stores had sold out of MSFM and MOTM, the two most hyped releases of the launch. Had I known there was a PSX port of Metal Slug, I probably would have bought that and not even bothered with this handheld. I settled on looking at what the NGPC had to offer in variety, which as you said, was little. FWIW it had 3 mediocre RPGS and 1 very good battle card game. Being 18, money was tight, so my first two naive purchases: Cherry Master and Bust a Move. They left much to be desired. By the time my hype for this handheld died down, they were selling the 'slim' version bundled with 6 games for less than what I paid for original with no games! (Sigh, the cost of being an early adopter) I recommend MOTM, CFC and Dark Arms to anyone. They are the very best this handheld has to offer. Bottom line: a GBA beats this handheld in variety, no contest.

Thanks for the info Shion. When they launched NGPChere in the UK, they were pushing Pac Man hard. To be honest though - that made me really want one!
