Modding the aes & converting mvs to aes
IDCHAPPY
Sorry to start a topic if it's already been covered( did try and search), was just wondering if anyones tried this stuff and if so how hard is it?. i'm quite interested in it and being a heating engineer to trade have some knowledge of electrics but was just curious if many more folk had tried it?

Converting MVS games into AES games is generally frowned upon in the community.... it means destroying official AES carts basicly. Still, a lot of people buy AES conversions. I guess people don't want to see official carts destroyed in great numbers, but all the same, many aren't too unhappy to snap up a cheap Metal Slug or Blazing Star for themselves!

Yeah i can understand about the carts being destroyed but theres tons of mince and cheap games out there that could be butcherd( dont mean to offend anyone) to make conversions and it seems to be an easy way to make the playable on aes and actually make some moey on... just a thought. More interested in modding the aes though seen one with true hd ports and light in the power button wooo(i'm easily amused lol).

An angry mob would hunt you down for saying that on Neo-Geo.com - over here though its a bit more relaxed Wink

I'd love to buy a modded AES with component output - I've seen them online. Don't know how its would work but if it did work it would be great. There's guides online to help out with that I'm sure, Merlin linked to a very good website here today, maybe have a look at that?

I could see the need for this possibly, back when you didn't have many options available but it really doesn't make sense now. People like Jamma Nation are making some really nice enclosed CMVS units with component out by neobitz. Its just easier to convert the MVS than all the carts. If you like the art, get some shockboxes. Easier and cheaper in the long run imho.

Well said Turbo if people don't want or cant afford to pay the money for the best carts then CMVS is the way forward.

Yeah i know... just bought a cmvs slot 2 for 250 from france, not a bad deal i thought. Must not buy anymore now though spent about a grand in the last 5 weeks, my credit card will be loving me lol. True Turbocro, but financially if you spend 50 converting it and make 100 on ebay it isnt too bad economically( not that i'm starting a business or anything ).

Well, I was looking at it from a personal use rather than investment perspective.

On a totally unrelated matter some of the japanese ebay sellers are putting insane markups on AES games. I saw a ROTD for over $700 the other day...

I have really noticed the prices of MVS carts creeping up this last few month, especially the Slugs with people wanting at least 25% more than earlier in the year. eg my MSX was 17 quid in April which I accept was a lucky bid but the going rate was usually 20-35 but recently its been going for 50. MS3 a game that was often on ebay for between 40-50 now commands over 70, im not sure what has brought this on or is it normal for the prices to jump with NG collecting , I have only been collecting since March so im non the wiser. The same games by the same sellers often seem to come back on again a week or so later so I don't think the higher prices are encouraging spending.

Maybe its the exchange rates? The pound is weakened and the Euro is gaining strength. I think this is why I've been able to afford so many Neo games over the last 5 or so months!

Maybe mvs carts are becoming more collectable these days also?
