BlackBerries..

Hello NeoGeoFolks, it's been a while since I visited this place ..

I'm wondering if its just here where I come from, the drastic increase of BBerry users are just showing, every person at work atleast is probably owning one.. I recently owned one, the Black Berry Curve.
and with how it goes around here, it's more of a casual lifestyle thing, than for business purposes..

Is it the same where you guys come from? Everyone suddenly ditched the well known brands such as Motorola, Nokia, and Sony and moved to this?

The iPhone isn't doing much of a great business here.. and the package is quite expensive

I still use Nokia today. I'm sticking with it, that's all.Smile

Same as Will. I only got Nokia and I like their simple interface. Screw the iPhone, I got a laptop, mp3 player and phone.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE K_DASH...

It's slowly getting that way here in the UK... ppl are either pining for iPhones or Blackberrys. As I type, I'm typing on my iMac. I'm an 'Apple' man and it'll never change. However, I was really disappointed to learn (upon release) that the iPhone was going to be 'touch screen'. I really cannot be doing with it!

HOWEVER... a friend (of a friend) recently acquired an 8890 Curve, and upon messing around with it, I can honestly say it is truly a thing of beauty! In particular the GUI. Not an Apple rip-off but something different, fresh, innovative and cool in it's own way. I can see why PPL are going for it EVEN over an iPhone. I preferred it. This obviously doesn't include the 'Storm' as that's touch screen. But that 8890 is really something else!

REGARDLESS... I'm not after such complexity and sophistication when it comes to mobile phones. I'm a Samsung man (at the moment) and only have been since the LEGENDARY D500! Samsungs pioneering slide-phone. I've had Samsung 'sliders' ever since and they've always proven to be very reliable, user-friendly and extremely enjoyable to use. I'm currently using a G600... had it for 18months and have recently (today!) just upgraded... to ANOTHER one! Great phone. I've always tended to dislike Sony Ericssons as they're not very well designed IMO... more like an over-specced phone built around it being a camera of megapixel extravaganza proportions. Don't really like Nokias much either, BUT do think the symbian based handsets are very good... perhaps the original blackberry in their own way!

Heh... forgot to mention, me and my GF do have a BB3310 curve (NEW!) kicking around the house! We pick it up to have a go on now and then (BrickBreaker FTW!) but none of us have committed to making it our handset of choice... doubt it'll ever happen, probably because the OS looks like XP (fisherprice) and it's not Mac compatible, so OS upgrades are impossible. At some point, I will get it round to a mates though and get it hooked up to a PC for some updates... just to see what can be done and how things can be changed as I'm guessing it's quite an upgradeable beastie!

I use a Net 10. 30 bucks for 300 minutes that are good for two months. Excellent deal. Screw "Smart" Phones. I don't need a phone to listen to mp3's, play movies, play games, surf the internet, send messages... thats what my laptop is for.

thanks Ninja, been a while ;) you always seem to impress me with those lengthy posts, wonder where you get that energy from haha :P

It's cool to see people sticking to their oldschool phones, the bberry phones are great too... I just seem to hate the msg status that appears to the other people, showing if they have 'read' your msg or not.. some people just don't seem to understand there are times you cannot type back. lol :/
