SAMURAI SHOWDOWN ZERO ADVICE
STE C
I have been trying to obtain SS5 ( not special)for MVS but have been losing out as it tends to go for high prices. I already have the game on my PS2 but the graphics compared to 4 seem very blurry ( and ive checked my filter mode so its not that) and the game feels somewhat juddery. Can anybody tell me if the Neo version also has this problem as if it does I wont bother making a high bid to win it in the future. Ive recently got KOF 2003 on MVS and the graphics are sharper and the game plays better than my PS2 copy so im hoping the same applies to SS5 as i dont mind putting my hand in my pocket to get the Neo one. thanks Neo brothers

The PS2 port is supposed to be very off...

But then again the game isn't very good Pfft

i actually like the game on ps2 version which is why i would like to know what the MVS/AES one looks and plays like as that will help me decide. If i like it on ps2 and people say its garbage surely the Neo version will rock my world ( i am a big SS fan ) but have never had the luxury of playing the Neo version, does anybody own the game and what do you think. I own SS5 Special by the way but dont like the controls ( holding 2 buttons for hard slice ect) but love the graphics

HEY STE!

I think SS5 also utilises that 2 buttons for hard slice malarkey (I think the first and second games did too?) and 'D' for the extra actions (Duck, Hop etc.) I'm not a fan of that kind of system either really. I think 3 & 4 got it spot on myself - I think 4's the best personally.

I have SS5 on the SamSho Anthology for PS2 and it plays better than fine... unfortunately though SNKP thought it would be a good thing to leave out the ability to turn the screen filtering on or off... and er, yeah, it's constantly set to 'on' Shrug It's not massively offensive but the option would've been nice Roll Eyes

Otherwise though, much better than the stand-alone PS2 edition, PLUS you get 1,2,3,4&6 on the disc too!

Thats encouraging thanks Ninja, just out of interest i assume your SS Anthology is a JAP or USA copy as the UK release seems to constantly get put back every month although i think the Wii & PSP versions could be out. I thought SS5 dident have the two button hard slash combo until i realised that i had changed the setting in the PS2 menu, obviously the MVS/AES version wont have that option. Thanks for the advice Ninja i shall maybe save my cash and just go for Anthology if you say SS5 on that version is better than stand alone. Heres a challenging question for somebody , did anyone ever play the X Box version of SS5 as it was releases in the USA i noticed

Hey Ste!
Yeah, it's the JP version of SSAnthology (Or SSRokubanShoubu for, er, long!)
The SS5 on there is better than the PS2 standalone, however, I cannot say whether it is better than the AES/MVS version... I VERY much doubt it is. Pad configuration capabilities are always a plus though I guess. ALSO, on the plus side, if you get the Anthology and you find the ports aren't completely to your taste, the PS2 version with 6 games will have only cost you around a tenner as opposed to the MVS or AES premiums. Whichever way you look at it, the disc with 6 games'll be well worth the money. (I'm mentioning this as I'm aware that you 'felt' differences between the Neo & PS2 KOF03) Thumbs Up

I didn't ever play SS5 on the Xbox... I reckon one of our fellow American members probably will have done though.
