Obscure 2D arcade fighting games
After a bit of research it seems the game is not currently emulatable for reasons I don't understand (which probably just boil down to "no one's cracked it yet"). The game has an official website that's thankfully in English though so you can check out a few details about it. The custom cabinet is honestly pretty sweet, with a giant colorful marquee and an attack button the size of a softball. It's safe to say that if this existed when I was a little kid I would have been very interested. It might be cool as an introduction to fighting games for kids.
Interesting find, reelmojo. Looks pretty fun and it doesn't look as simple as i thought. It appears to have a variety of different moves including some special moves.

Of course, if this is "2", there had to be a first one. The first one is not very good and has bad controls. But if you play the game on a Super A'can (a taiwanese console), i donesn't look that bad.

YouTube Video

Sango 1 and 2 can be downloaded freely from the Superfighter Team web site, the guys who brought to the West both games, and some others like Superfighters mentioned by Parrothead.

Sango Fighter was tits way back then.

Spent many days playing through the Story mode.

The music was absolutely superb. In all honesty it's my favorite fighting game soundtrack of all time.

Great fighter, glad somebody mentioned it.

Never played 2... is the music good?
Gotta mention this game

YouTube Video

This game has two modes ;story and Tournament.

The story mode is pretty good, with semi-unique endings.

The game actually shines in Tournament mode. This mode plays like a fighter/RPG hybrid. You fight to earn money to upgrade your robot (you start with a base model, which is actually my favorite when upgraded) then you can upgrade your robot ( and pilot's inherent skills)as you see fit. When you earn enough money you can also enter better (more difficult) tournaments and change to a"better" robot type. There are a great many pilots that you will only encounter in Tournament Mode, each with a consistent attitude from tournament to tournament (lots of assholes who insult your robot and skills in this game). There are secret characters that can ONLY be faced when you perform Destruction(like Fatalities) moves on certain beaten opponents. These secret characters are often tough fuckers who will take lots of your money if you lose, hence you gamble when fighting them. Whats the pay off? You get upgrades that you can't buy. This game is crazy versatile for the 90's. The game has a weird 90's electro soundtrack that sets the mood.

Did I mention if you're computer/DOS savy you can create you own Tournaments, in-game dialogue and pilots? Hell if my teenage self could do it, you can too.

The game is freeware now, so you can DL it from many sites and play it on DOSBOX.

PS: The robots in that video are only slow because the robots have not been upgraded and the pilots skills are fucking shit.

shot in the eye
shot in the brain
shot in the ass...
If you like the music from Sango 1, i can bet you probably are going to like the music from the sequel. I feel like the 1st one has catchier tunes still.

One Must Fall is definitely one of the best DOS games (wich is not that hard). If you like this game, there's also another one with very similar ideas that you may want to try: Battle Tycoon. In this Snes game, you can earn money, upgrade your fighters, you can have the AI fighting himself and bet for the character you think will win. And as a fighting game is pretty well done.
